El Charro Authentic Mexican — Restaurant in Jackson

Do not recommend this restaurant!!! I went out for a girls dinner night to try some "authentic" Mexican food. Unfortunately, this is not the place. First and foremost, our waiter was not too friendly. When we asked for napkins, she brought is a bunch of silverware with the one napkin around it. So we had to open up all the silverware to use the napkin. They started us off with salsa and chips. Really nothing special to it. It's your basic corn chips. I've had better salsa store bought in a jar from Kroger's. The quest cheese dip was really nothing special either. It was quite watery for cheese. I ordered the fillet plate which was grilled tilapia with rice and salad. My friends ordered a super burrito and a chicken enchilada I believe with rice and a bean dip. All three of us were highly disappointed with our food. It was completely tasteless. I couldn't even finish it. This restaurant is not true to its name. I don't believe this to be true Mexican food. I ordered a shrimp happy plate. When I received it, I checked my food as I always do. It was then when my mom pointed out something in one of the shrimp. It was the entire intestine from the front to end of the shrimp that still had fecal matter in it. I simply threw it out the window. I was still skeptical about eating it so I checked the rest of the shrimp. EVERY shrimp that was on my plate still had fecal matter inside so that showed that it hadn’t been properly cleaned. My mom took the food back inside the restaurant and she proceeded to get me something in exchange for that meal. When my mom arrived back to the car, what she told me next really surprised me. She told me that one of the ladies who runs the restaurant said they ALWAYS serve their shrimp that way (with the intestines and fecal matter still inside). Very inconsistent. The last time I was here, I really enjoyed my food, this time it was pretty bad. I ordered the shrimp coctel, this time the shrimp was much smaller. If you compared the pics of the two coctel I had, the first time the shrimp was so big they the butterflied it, had a good balance of sweet and sour from the lime. 2nd time, you can clearly see the shrimp was much smaller that they didn't even care to butterfly and clean it. The coctel sauce was way too sweet and I literally got a giant bowl of sauce and a ton of onions! All the shrimp was on top swimming in just tomato sauce. I had to ask for A LOT of extra lime.
