We walked into IHOP in Jackson, Mississippi and were seated almost right away. We looked at our menus and waited on the waitress. We waited and waited. This lovely young lady walks up to our table and introduced yourself to us as our waitress and gets our order. I ordered the 5which buttermilk pancakes with four strips of applewood bacon and a Dr Pepper with no ice. My sister ordered a fish dinner. This all took place in the late morning. Our food came and when she sat my plate in front of me I noticed that there were two pancakes not the five that was supposed to have been there. I had at that time not received any syrup for my pancakes and I asked her to bring it along with my drink. About 10 minutes later I'm still waiting for my syrup and my drink. I have to get up and go ask another employee if he could give me some warm syrup. He was very nice and said that he would get it right away. It never arrived nor did my drink arrive. The waitress finally came back to the table and I asked her if this was all I got was the two pancakes and she said oh you want two more and I just gave up and said yes and I want my drink please. She left and 10 minutes later she arrives with my warm pancake syrup. I still at that time had not received my drink. So I got to thinking where in the world is she going because I'm the only customer in that restaurant at that time. So I noticed she's at the far corner of the restaurant talking to a co-worker and just having a good time and doing something with her phone. So about 8 minutes after she took my order for more pancakes she came back and said that the cook was making up more pancake batter. I was so relieved at that point that she thought enough of her job to come and tell me that information. At that time I still did not have my drink and I had already eaten my two pancakes and four strips of bacon. I don't know how much time had passed and she walks up with my two pancakes and I'm able to finally get my drink that she brought with the two pancakes. Now during all this time my sister is eating her fish dinner for lunch. She had fries with her fried fish and the fries were really good. She told me that the fish was really good tasting but the fried battered crust on the outside was burnt. Now although my pancakes were good they look nothing like the picture in the menu. These pancakes were really thin and maybe about 4 inches across. I really thought she had brought me a children's pancake. My bacon tasted nothing like applewood bacon and was really a cheap very thin bacon with a piggy taste. Before leaving I asked her if she would bring me a Dr Pepper to go. I waited really longer than I should have before getting up and going to the other side of the restaurant and asking her if I could have that Dr Pepper to go. Now before we were ready to leave another set of customers came in. A man and a woman. They were an older couple like myself and my sister. They were shown to their table and given their menus. A different waitress took care of them. When they were ready to give their order they asked for pancakes. They were told that they were out of Pancakes. The couple was really surprised and extremely disappointed as that was the only reason they had walked through those doors was to have pancakes. The woman was quite vocal and asked how can an IHOP be out of pancake batter. I know that they were not out of batter but that they cook did not want to mix up anymore. I was really disappointed for these people. They asked to speak to the manager and for some reason there was not a manager there for them to speak to. It was at that time that they walked out of the restaurant very disgruntled. Now I could tell you that I had every reason to question my waitress as to why service was slow. But my reasoning behind not saying anything was because I didn't want a disgruntled employee to spit on my food which unfortunately happens in most restaurants. And if you're wondering how I know that, I worked at a few of them in my...
Read moreThis was by far the WORST IHOP I have ever been to. I saw other negative reviews and I am not surprised. I wish I would have read them before we went to this one. Arrived around 10:30 and after 1 o’clock, everyone’s food still wasn’t served. We had to ask for menus after being seated well over 15 minutes. The drink orders were sent back multiple times for being wrong. The server told us before we sat down that the tea was horrible and not to order it. We sent back three different stacks of pancakes because they cracked like egg shells when your utensils touched them. We asked for the manager and when the guy came over that we thought was the manager, he told us that he was the owner and so when we proceeded to tell him that the service and the food was below subpar, he condescendingly tried to compare our experience to waiting for a steak at a nice steak house because he had a similar experience at a nice restaurant and had to wait for a steak….first of all, if you think eating at an IHOP and eating at a nice steak house is remotely the same, and you are the owner/manager, no wonder this establishment is TERRIBLE! That is like comparing apples to oranges. When we asked for the ticket they charged us for food that we didn’t even get. I sent the ticket back to get corrected and the food that we didn’t order was eventually removed. The family sitting next to us had a similar terrible experience and they also asked to speak to the manager and again the same guy came out with a bunch of excuses and did nothing to compensate anyone for the terrible experience and the horrible food. I will NEVER go to this establishment again. The only reason I gave it a one star review was because I couldn’t go any lower than that. The owner/manager that didn’t want to be recognized as the manager knows nothing about...
Read moreHORRIBLE!!!!! Worse IHOP I've ever visited. There is no option for less, so I had to give one star.
DH and I arrived right when the restaurant opened - they were short staffed with dirty tables in the dining area (not just syrup, some had plates with left over food on them). We were asked if we wanted to sit on the hot or cold side because apparently the AC was turned off on one side of the house.
I don't know why we stayed, except for the fact that we were traveling and my DH was hungry at this point.
We were one of very few customers dining in. We ordered our food and waited about 45 minutes for it to arrive. DH was missing a fork, and had to wait a bit longer for cheeae sauce for his omlet and for his pancakes to arrive. My coffee was hot and my food came out fresh-ish (no real complaints here).
While at this location, we witnessed one female customer, who was there when we arrived, still waiting for her food (an hour later) when we were leaving. A call-on order arrived, waited an additional 15 or so minutes and then politely canceled the order and asked for a refund. Meanwhile an older lady sat in a corner booth, shaking her head while eating her food out of the top portion of a to-go container because there weren't any clean dishes (I assume).
All of this went on as the manager on duty sat in her car while her inept and inadequate crew struggled. She was notified twice that they needed help and did nothing. 30 - 45 minutes later, she walks in with 2 additional crew members playing on their phones with seemingly no remorse, or hustle to begin helping coworkers.
After all of this, she (MOD) had the audacity to ask the call in-custoner why she...
