Is an old building store front off main street. Seemed they may have been two building with an arched cut out, inside. Cement/plaster and red brick walls. The furniture is dark wood. Noticed the table creeks when leaning on it and the chairs when readjusting seating position. That made it seem more rustic. Main Street is the main entrance or off the 49 for a small parking lot. There is a patio on the back entrance side. They sell spirit's and have a real bar with the stools. There are a couple of TVs. The food varies. I've had some that is mid pack and then some top notch, depends on chef I suppose. The employees were caring and friendly. I tried the pizza, which was quite good. The crust edge reminded me of a pastry, though the center crust was a little damp from the vegetables. I air fried a couple of pieces at home, which firmed the center crust a bit. The bourbon cake wasn't cake, so to speak. It was a couple of pastry rounds with peaches and light syrup. Peaches were good with the syrup, but the rounds didn't go as for being cake more pastry with light crunch. Another visit: The Bison burger cooked as asked was excellent! The triple chocolate cake was beyond what was expected....what a great large slice with drizzle and small dollops of whip cream and 3 blue berries!! It's worth checking the place out. Try any dish it should...
Read moreIt's pains me a bit to not leave a totally positive review for Luka's because it's our GO-TO restaurant anytime we're in Jackson but there's been some times the service has left a bit to be desired. The food is excellent and I can only think of one time (out of who knows how many visits) that it was less than stellar. I'm a bit bummed the Monte Cristo is no longer a permanent offering but that's a minor quip. But depending on your server, that's where it goes a bit sideways. Today's server was attentive until the food came out and then she was off, busy setting up tables and putting out silverware. She had to notice my TWO empty glasses, surely as she walked by countless times. But she was quick to notice I was done eating and to hustle the dishes away, still offering no refills. I didn't want to ask at that point because she was quick to offer a to-go box and get us on our way. Pretty sure we were their only table they were waiting on at that point as well. I would think dining customers would take precedence over prep but maybe I've missed something here. I wouldn't normally make such a stink if this was a one-off but the service can really be lacking and it's an ongoing issue. Step...
Read moreTreasure hunting for antiques & vintage goodies is fun. While shopping the quaint Historic downtown area, we browsed many lovely shops, cafes, and restaurants. We were pleasantly surprised to find Luke's, and we were greeted right away and shown to our table. We were given ice water immediately (today' s temperature was a balmy 112 degrees), and refills came quickly. Our server Colleen gave us the specials, and returned with our beer and wine choices which were refreshing, and my Noceta, light and fruity. The menu is a plentiful variety, and tonight, we tried the bean and pulled pork soup, the Asian chicken salad, and the pulled pork Mac! Pulled pork Mac! Sooooo tasty! We also tried the beer batter pretzel with warm gouda cheese dip ("Can we please have another serving of cheese?"--yup), with a mustard seed sauce. Both were scrumptious. My Asian salad was perfect. Unlike a chilled salad, the warm greens complimented with a light sweet tangy dressing was perfect with the tenderly grilled chicken breast. Thanks to the Chef and staff for a great experience. We definitely recommend Luke's if you are in town. Friendly service,...
