I love this place for breakfast but I noticed that all the waitresses had to wear masks while everyone else was enjoying their food without a mask. I think due to the science, they should not have to wear them. The Covid virus is too small for any mask except the N95 and it can still go through it. It must be a N 95 and fit perfectly to be effective. I think let them go without the masks. If anyone has a problem with it, they need to stay home or eat with their mask on. We appreciate the hard work our waitress do and their great service and they should not have to suffer the entire shift breathing through them just because someone might have a problem with the masks. Like I said, those can stay home. Or pick up. Set them free!

While it was a cute little diner, the service and food was horrible. I literally had to get up and go to the bar counter to get my server's attention for whatever we needed throughout our meal. The coffee was so weak I believe dirty water would have been stronger. The potatoes were undercooked. The breakfast burrito was flavorless. The omelettes had no flavor. I had to drown mine in hot sauce just to have any ounce of flavor. Throughout the whole week we stayed in Jacksonville Beach, eating out each meal, this had to have been the most ridiculous we experienced.

In A Nutshell: -Penman Diner is a legit spot to grab some homecooked breakfast. -What makes this restaurant unique is that they sell both Southern cooked food plus Mediterranean dishes. -I ordered their Shrimp & Grits (yeah I know you can find it nearly everywhere, but I tried it here). -I loved the plump shrimp in the hominy grits which is topped w/ freshly cut green onions & I ordered a side of homemade biscuits (yummy). -Not on the menu is the Turkish Coffee, which I highly recommend. Overall, this is a great little diner to eat at.

This was my second visit in 3 weeks timeframe. First time we had breakfast. Ordered omelette and their 2 egg breakfast special. The food was good, service was good and the wait time was for 5 minutes as it was around 8:30 in the morning. Second visit was around 11am. We wanted to get breakfast but ended up ordering from their lunch menu. I got Gyro plate with broccoli and my husband got the patty melt. Both meals were good. Our service was great too. This time we waited for about 20 minutes. The waitress was perfect, checked on us, but not disturbing us. There was another waitress going around topping off customers coffee cups. All aspects of the restaurant seemed to be moving like a well oiled machine. All the staff was energetic, busy and did not hear a complaint or see unhappiness on their faces. They were there to work and they were doing it well. Don’t get to see that much lately so kudos to management. We actually met the owners son who I believe is 10 or 11 selling lemonade outside the restaurant. Cute. He and his buddy seemed to be enjoying their business venture! I am impressed. Will go back there...

This was my first visit to Penman Diner but hooefully won't be my last. The atmosphere was warm and comfortable. Perfect for a leisurely Sunday morning. We weren't seated long before the wait staff was at our table presenting us with an extensive breakfast and lunch menu. After skimming through multiple options of omelets, waffles, pancakes, wraps, create your owns, etc, I opted for the pork chop and two eggs served with choice of hashbrowns, home fries or grits and toast. The wait for our food was reasonable and the waitress kept our coffee hot; an important quality in a waitress. Our food arrived hot and cooked to perfection. My thincut pork chop was tender, juicy and fkavorful beside my two perfectly cooked over medium fried eggs, heavenly! The portions of hashbrowns with onion was plentiful. My husbands order of a veggie omelet and hashbrowns also just as pleasing. We sat and ate with our friends and everyone enjoyed the food and experience. The prices were extremely reasonable and fair. We all left with a smile and a promise to return. I highly recommend this cozy...

Imagine my surprise when I walked in for my first visit here and the place was packed at 1 in the afternoon... mostly senior citizens. I could have sat at the bar, but preferred a booth this time. The menu consists of lunch; and breakfast served all day. I chose the gyros platter, which comes with fries and a Greek salad along with the meat and pita bread. I was able to substitute the fries for another side. It was really good...I ate way too much and left pleasantly miserable. The servers were busy, but efficient and pleasant. My only little gripe would be the server who was visiting the patrons seated behind me, complaining about her job! Please don't complain about work in front of customers. Yuck. The interior could use a little freshening up, but it won't slow me down from coming back. I have to check out breakfast next time. Definitely a...
