Where do I begin with this place?!?! I am not from the area! I saw this while driving by and thought, wow that place looks cute and chill. It had adorable food items and drinks draw on the windows. When I made it inside, I was instantly in awe! It's basically everything Steak n Shake wishes it was. You go in, order at the counter and sit and wait for your food. The employees look like they belong there and are insanely friendly and inviting. You feel extremely welcome as soon as you enter the door, but not in a 'overwhelm the antisocial' style. So yeah, I walked up and ordered a double pepper jack burger with a strawberry milkshake.

It was fast, but not fast to the point that you're worried that it's just been sitting back there under a heat lamp for hours. Holy moly, lemme tell ya - those burgers are insane. They are nice and thin-ish and perfectly crisped on the edges and packed full of flavor! Then the milkshake? Omg! They give you these thicker straws that cam handle milkshakes instead of the skinnier ones that give you a damn migraine when you have to get strawberries up them. The strawberry pieces were insanely fresh as well.

I cannot suggest this local gem enough. This place deserves...

"A hole in the wall" restaurant is often synonymous with a hidden gem eatery. While no one can quite pinpoint why this cliché has become a seemingly American staple, I can, with great confidence and fervor, call Burger Board as such: ubiquitous, quintessential, hidden gem perfection, one triple crispy-edged smash burger at a time. 🍔

I had only taken one bite of their triple smash (with all of the free fixings), when I knew I had struck gold. However, I suppose I can't take credit for this "discovery," nor be at all surprised; Burger Board is one of the highest rated restaurants in all of quaint Jacksonville, IL.

I'm thrilled to confirm that all the five-stars are appropriately rated; I would change nothing about my burger, to which, that's the highest compliment I could offer.

Oh, and their malts are giant and delicious.

💯 recommend this joint. You will NOT be...

so I have been going to this place for years. I worked at walmart and then buchheits. after a long grueling week I would reward myself with a meal here. the food was fantastic. I am unsure if this place changed hands recently but I stopped in to see discord and chaos. they had a girl running the line with a deer on headlights look. I tried to be nice but they got my order wrong. there were a few other people waiting for food and they were long before us. you could smell the old cooking oil and taste it in the food. we paid like 17 bucks for almost nothing and the quality just isn't there like it used to be. I'm a firm believer in backing up diners and greasy spoons. it kills me to speak ill of one really good spot. maybe they will figure it out. maybe they will do better but I dunno if I will ever return. I had such fond memories of eating here with now deceased...

In town for work, husband was searching for something fast. Most places did not have a good review. He came across this place. Not one to chance eating somewhere new. He ordered, and it was ready before the time given. I have to say, it was very much worth the price. Not expensive. The food was delicious. We had double cheeseburgers and fries. It was around $20. I loved it so much that before leaving the next day we went back. This time we got the same thing but I added a strawberry sundae with hot fudge. This totalled about $25. The sundae was huge! Once again they really left a lasting memory. Although it is a 3 1/2 hour drive there, I would make that trip just to eat there again. A must stop if you are in Jacksonville!

If you are an avid connoisseur of smashburgers, you will love this diner! Thin juicy mouthwatering burgers served on a soft bun, customized with the fixings of your choice. The bacon double cheeseburger was delicious! The service is fast and friendly. Prices are reasonable. The ambiance is good, capped with 1950s classic rock music playing in the background. A drive thru window is available to grab a bite on the go. If you love diner style food, you will NOT be disappointed. Great hidden gem with epic burgers.
