It was me and my husbands first time trying this hot pot spot. We usually go to the one on St. John’s and beach. It was quiet, the decor is cute we got the AYCA sushi and hot pot ($60 total) and the flavors we chose were Tom yum and kimchi broth. The Tom yum was pretty lackluster and he had to add sauces to give it that needed oomph in flavor. Without the sauces the Tom yum was very citrusy and that was about it and I didn’t notice too much with the kimchi and wasn’t as red or flavorful as expected. I liked that the seafood options seemed fresh. Their water also didn’t taste filtered and had a strong metallic taste to it to where my husband was surprised I even picked up the cup a second time.
The sushi was pretty disappointing, the rice was a bit firmer than desired and the ones that had sauce was nearly drenched with sauce such as their eel roll, and some roll with imitation crab. But it seemed that they were left out for a while as well. They had one fried dynamite roll and the batter got stale from being left out and their tuna nigiri was definitely left out for too long since there were a couple with a vibrant red color and some that were dried out and darkened and it looked like a depressing spam nigiri. I wouldn’t recommend their sushi other than trying one piece of each roll if you’re truly interested.
We did not get the bbq option but know that there are certain meats that you can only grab for the bbq option (frog legs, steak, mini sausages, brisket, the rest of the meats that aren’t seafood) so you can grab any meat if you choose the bbq and not the hot pot if you were to choose one. We didn’t get a chance to touch the desserts before we tapped out. The floors were sticky to walk on and their sink in the bathroom was a bit leaky. The sinks and the toilets flushing lever weren’t exactly clean either. Unfortunately we would not want...
Read moreA bit overpriced and not up to par. Food is flavorless for the most part. Several of the food options were low or out and not refilled quickly. I love coconut shrimp from buffets and here it was hard and without much sauce. Sushi was also bland. Crab legs were good but small. Broccoli was soggy. I ended up grilling a meal and it was pretty tasteless. American type food was pizza. No fries, mac & cheese, no roasted or mashed potatoes.
Price for kids 3-12 is is $12.95 and that doesn't include a drink. My 4 year old only wanted pizza she grabbed 1 slice and complained of it being too hard. I tried to bite it myself and it took effort! Very dry and hard. Waiter noticed she didn't eat and said next time don't bring her with you. I didn't ask or except a discount or not to be charged but her comment was very rude and unnecessary.
We got the check quickly but was sooner then we expected and it was a few cents short of $100. I dont know why we were rushed to pay before we were even done eating so I just added cash into the folder to pay and was going to leave additional cash on the table when we were done and leaving. Waiter took the folder and when she returned with the change she opened it up and told me "put cash tip here" I smiled and said okay as she just stood over me waiting on the tip. I was planning to leave a good tip because it's not the waiters fault food wasn't up to par and her service was okay besides the comment of leaving my daughter at home and also offering the kids candy without asking me or my huaband first but after a demand for a tip I left her just $15.
The place itself is nicely remodeled and pretty clean but we won't be...
Read moreBeen here several times and usually the food is good and there are no problems. When I come here it's usually only for the crab legs. After I finish my first plate of crab legs, I went up to get my second one. While I'm standing in front of the crab legs my waitress came up to me and told me to make sure that I eat all of the crab legs not just part of it pointing to the end of the crab legs where it breaks off and there's usually some meat on the end there. She said there could be a waste charge if I don't eat all of it. This has never happened before but I took it in stride and my next plate I ate everything off the ends like she said just so they would not have a problem. After that the guy that brings out food to fill the buffet kept looking/starring at us every single time he came out. They only refilled the crab legs once in the 2 hours that we were sitting there and then it was only a handful. Did not get nearly as much as I usually do because of that. If I'm going to pay $28 for all you can eat crab legs I expect all you can eat crab legs very disappointed. It will be a long long time before I go back here again if at all I felt like we were being watched and somewhat scrutinized. The crab legs are usually soggy and overcooked, but I go there cuz hardly anyone else in town offers all you can eat crab legs. This is definitely not the right way to treat people especially people that you know to be regulars. Well we won't be regulars anymore would give it negative...
