ONLY giving this location 1 star because there has to be a rating before a review can be given. I usually love going to Hungry Howie's, but I have never been to this location. I order online because it was the closest to me at the time, and I get the usual prompts that my order has been received, made, and ready for pickup. Now, having been used to my usual venue in Mandarin (EXCELLENT service), I assume nothing out of the ordinary when I enter this location, which is packed. A few customers are standing near the counter being told that their order is still being made and all were given the same time frame of 20 mins. I still think nothing out of the ordinary because I have a web receipt and an email confirmation of my order. I get to the counter and give my name and the cashier proceeds to tell me that they have no record of my order in their store! Staring incredulously at her, I show her the web order, which says it is ready for pickup, and the web receipt with their store number as the location. Still, there was no record of my order being received. At that point I asked to speak with the manager. 10 minutes later, the manager comes and checks the computer again, I show her the confirmations on my phone, and no order is found on their system. Okay, next logical question is, "Where do we go from here?" The manager tells me that I cannot be issued a refund because there is no order to go by. MY PHONE!! MY PHONE HAS THE ORDER!! I was livid. She instructed that I would have to call corporate because they are franchised. SO, with my tail between my legs, I call corporate and a "ticket" for investigation was placed. That was over a week ago. No call, no refund, nothing. I. Will. NEVER. Visit. This....
Read moreHoly cow. Our wait time was over 2.5 hours. I got there, after the app said the food was ready, and they gave us the wrong order. So I walk back in and exchange it....huge mistake. I waited another 2 full hours before actually getting something close to my order. I was so fed up (along with the dozen others in the exact same situation) that I demanded a refund....and WAS TOLD NO. They said they were sorry and weren't allowed to refund!? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Wasted 2.5 hours of my night, made my kids wait almost 3 hours for what was supposed to be a delicious and convenient family dinner (nope) gave me the wrong food twice, and refused to refund me after wasting the most valuable thing I have, which is my little free time? Used to be big fans of Hungry Howies, now I think we're done for good. I even filed a complaint with their corporate office over the incident....WHICH THEY IGNORED! Beyond disappointed with them. The fact that the location itself looks dirty, run down, and poorly kept and employees prepping food in front of us without gloves really sealed it, along with the fact that my wife became ill that evening after eating her sandwich (when she finally got the damn thing). I wish I were making this up, because as I said before, we used to love Hungry Howie's and hadn't had issues in the past at other locations, we've even been to this location several times (with varied success but they at least got the order right, storefront has always been run down and dirty though at this location). I speculate it's a franchise location with an owner who doesn't really seem to care, which is a shame because HH makes great food....when managed, kept, and...
Read moreI recently had a very unsettling experience at this Hungry Howie's location. I attempted to order a large pepperoni pizza over the phone. I was initially quoted a price of $19 and change. Knowing that seemed high, I checked the Hungry Howie's website and found the same pizza listed for $13 and change. When I called back to point out the discrepancy, the cashier seemed noticeably unhappy. While she told me to order online for a lower price, she informed me that she'd have to cancel the original order and re-ring it. This already made me uneasy.
Despite my reservations, I decided to proceed with the order. Upon arriving at the store, the cashier was friendly and explained that she was new. We had a pleasant, brief conversation. However, the employee who brought my pizza from the oven seemed less than pleased. He stared at me in a way that made me uncomfortable, and an unsettling thought crossed my mind: had he done something to the pizza? I tried to dismiss the thought, even leaving a tip as a gesture of goodwill.
Unfortunately, my concerns were validated when I opened the pizza box. The quality and taste were noticeably off. I began to worry that something had been done to the pizza, a thought I hate to even entertain. Even more concerning, both my wife and I experienced upset stomachs after eating the pizza.
I've always enjoyed Hungry Howie's and was told this is a corporate store, but this experience was far below their usual standards. I would absolutely not recommend this location to anyone. I hope they can address these issues and improve their service and food quality in the future. Until then, save your time and money and...
