Let me start with the good first. The food was decent. The overall experience, terrible. A certain waiter by the name of finne was utterly disrespectful. Obviously rude the entire time without a glimpse of a smile. There was a misunderstanding standing about a discount on a 4th roll after you buy 3. I specifically ask what item would be discounted and she confirmed one and discounted another. I then asked about it and was rudely spoken to as if i was a child. She then ignores me while another employee speaks up politely to me on her behalf. Money wasnt the problem. I tipped the cook for the food and the other waitress for the expected respect. Sadly, it doesnt end here. I called the restaurant immediately after leaving to speak with the owner/manager. The girl who was polite picks up, i recognized her voice. I asked to speak to the owner/manager. She says hold on, i hear in the back ground "whats the owners name" then comes back on and says she is the manager. I gave her my spill and at the end of the call i asked again is this the manager/owner, she hangs up on me. I call back and say i recognize your voice and will call back when the real manager/owner shows up. She then finally apologize for everything that happen and starts throwing all type of future discounts my way which i decline. I couldn't believe they would go as far to impersonate the owner. This is my first review of any restaurant in hopes to protect future customers from such brutal treatment. Read moreThe last few times have been an utter disappointment. I've been coming to Philip Sushi for over 5 years now and I have always loved the food and raved about how delicious it was. The hibachi, which is cooked in the back kitchen, was better than any sit-down hibachi restaurant I had ever been to. However, as of late, the food was been terrible (as has the service). The only tastes which have remained a constant over the years is the absolutely delicious ginger dressing and the shrimp sauce (not watered down like some places and full of flavor). Lately the vegetables have been undercooked and still crunchy/cold (think raw mushrooms, onions, broccoli, and zucchini), the steak seeming to be without its usual sauce which gave it a great flavor and also lower quality meat, and the entire plate tasting of pepper -which is evidently used by the black speckles everywhere covering the plate. The flavor used to be absolutely delicious and unrivaled by any other hibachi restaurant I had even been to. But that is no longer true. I've also noticed a considerable reduction in the portion sizes. During one visit, I thought the kitchen was rushed as an explanation for our poorly cooked meal. But it seems this is now the new-norm as this has occurred during our last several visits.

I have been coming here for years with my family and all of us love Philip Sushi. The food is great and priced very affordably. Most of the waitresses are modest and quiet, but they do their job well. You order the food, it comes quickly, your glasses don't get empty, any (rare) mistakes are swiftly corrected, and they're always around when you need them. The menu also has a huge number of options: soups, tempuras, desserts, rice and noodle, kid's menu, and of course tons of sushi. Philip's is also VERY affordable when compared to other nearby sushi places...
*(Please don't be turned away by all the other commenters who expect to have their butts kissed by waitstaff. Just bc they aren't wearing plastic smiles all the time doesn't mean they aren't kind and attentive. We've been there many many times, and the staff is very warm and welcoming. One waitress's young daughter is there frequently, coloring or doing homework, so you can tell they are a family. I've never seen them on their phones, but I hope people know they DO have a call-in/take-out service, which has ALSO been excellent in my experience.
