Gaelos No.2 — Restaurant in Jamesburg

I was looking forward to trying this restaurant after seeing the phenomenal reviews. What a joke. They couldn’t be further from our experience.

I should’ve taken a cue from the empty parking lot at 7pm on a Friday night. This place used to be packed w the previous owners. I ordered a margarita on the rocks to which my waiter was telling me he didn’t know if they had that “drink”. Turns out he didn’t know what “on the rocks” meant. Really!! After clearing that up. My husband ordered a soda. The waiter dropped off a can of soda, no glass and no straw /which i had requested. Brought us a basket w a few remnants of chips. Claimed they ran out and were cooking some. That took a while and we had to remind him. Waiting for the food. We had to ask for napkins and utensils. Waiter had no idea how to wait on a table. Good thing the place only had one more table with another server. He was polite but shouldn’t be working as a server without some training. Food: was awful. We ordered a grilled chicken that was inedible, old, chewy, raw inside, smelled old, and tasted strange. Had to send it back. I ordered a wrap. That I was only able to eat one bite before spitting it out. Again chicken inedible, old and brown looking. I couldn’t eat my food. The only thing that was decent was my husband’s shrimp tacos. They actually looked fresh.

We told the waiter to tell the kitchen staff something was wrong w all the chicken they served us.

Don’t get fooled by these good reviews. They must’ve visited another location cause it certainly...

Amazing service, food and ambiance. Menu seems to have daily specials.

We stopped by on a Sunday afternoon and took advantage of one of these specials and it did not disappoint. Everybody in our party loved the food and the amount for the price. They brought fresh chips and some salsas to begin and refilled our chips twice since our kids were devouring them.

Gaelos is a hidden gem which more people need to know about! Amazing food, great drinks, and wonderful staff—what more could you ask for?

The housemate tortilla chips are thick and crispy but not oily. The trio of salsas cover all the bases. The tacos are amazing and prices are so good it’s hard not to indulge (try their platter of 20 mini tacos!), and the margaritas are the perfect balance of tart and sweet (but not over sweet like so many are).
