I ordered food through GrubHub for a friend to pick up. I live out of state and wanted to treat her and her family. I made sure to put her name and her husband's name on the order for ease of pick up since the site said they would need to show an ID to pick it up. I used my phone number, however, so the restaurant could contact me if there happened to be a problem with the order. My friend's husband went to pick up the food and gave his name. The person working there told him he had to verify the phone number but he didn't happen to know my phone number. They treated him harshly (even though he and his family regularly visit the restaurant.) He left very embarrassed and went home to his hungry family with no food. My friend let me know what happened and I called the restaurant. The woman who answered the phone said they don't use people's names for orders because they get so many but when I verified my number, she said smugly, "Now THAT is the right number." But how would she know my number was the correct number for his name if she never looked at his name. I told her my friend was very upset but still wanted to pick up the order. I said they owed her family an apology upon which the restaurant worker hung up on me! I tried calling back but no one answered so I called back on my home phone. I told the worker we needed to either get the food or our money back. She then laid the phone on the counter without responding. I stayed on the phone about 15 minutes, hoping someone would pick it back up. About another 10 minutes later, the restaurant called my cell back and the woman claimed they had been "trying to reach" me even though I was actually on the line with them on one phone and holding the other in my hand. She brusquely said they would refund my money and hung up. No apology at all. This was at the...
Read moreI've lived near Hunan Spring for at least 5 years and it's the Chinese restaurant we go to the most, so I thought it was time to show some love. The best part about the food is that everything is super fresh and tastes like it's high quality. The veggies are to die for; they're not an afterthought. They're fresh and crispy when they should be, and never overcooked. As in, when I order a Mongolian beef, I actually partially order it for the delicious, perfectly-cooked, radiant green broccoli. The meat is also super tender and juicy, and I don't know how they do it.
Is theirs my favorite General Tso's I've ever had? It's one of them. Is it very delicious? Yes. Is it the freshest-tasting version I've ever had? Yes. What it lacks in junk-food-style deliciousness makes it stand out in real-food deliciousness. (The menu says they use only vegetable oil, not nut or seed oils; is that it?) Our family loves the dishes I just mentioned, as well as the orange chicken, the beef with garlic (tons of veggies), the smoothies, and the appetizer dumplings.
It's more of a carry-out place, not an eat-in place, so the atmosphere isn't really a thing to judge on. But the family who runs this place is lovely and is super friendly, and make me happy...
Read moreFirst time ordering after reading reviews and it will be the only time.
The call taker was nice, repeated my order and said 15 mins. Ordered 3 lunch specials to try a few different things. Orange chicken with shrimp fried rice, Shrimp with broccoli with chicken fried rice and Mongolian chicken with shrimp fried rice.
Each of the rice tasted burnt, like the wok was burning or if the flame torched everything. The rice only had chopped onions, 1 or 2 bean sprouts and the chicken or shrimp.
The orange chicken was soggy and I hate when places use orange peels in it! I guess I'm used to places that don't do that!
The Broccoli shrimp, plenty of Broccoli and they use small shrimps and barely any. They should use bigger shrimps. It's the same small size in the rice.
The Mongolian chicken.... it wasn't Mongolian chicken. She made some type of Chicken with veggies, carrots, celery, onions, mushrooms, peapods, etc.
Plenty of parking. The table near the wall had junk all over it. I know places are "hole in the walls" but bottles of Pepto and random stuff everywhere? Just looks messy. Overall, we will not return due to burnt rice, wrong order and subpar flavors. I rather drive further back to the hood for better...
