As a Dasher, I came to this White Castle twice within the last couple of weeks or so. During my first visit and delivery for a customer here, the pick up was okay for the most part, but a dark skinned sistah at the drive thru window asked me to confirm the order while keeping the food at the window away from my sight.
In order to confirm a customer order with DoorDash, I have to take a picture of the receipt and told the associate this. Instead of having a clear picture of the receipt, this associate already closed the bag with the receipt in it. I'm not sure if employees at White Castle should really be putting receipts directly in the bag and not placing them stapled on the outside, but I just took a picture of the bag.
On my recent visit this past late Thurs 6/12 and early morning Fri 6/13, I came here for another delivery with DoorDash. This time, I had two orders to pickup. Due to it being around 12:45 am or so, I chose to just go through the drive thru as I didn't know the actual restaurant was still open. I wait in the drive thru line for around 10 - 15 min until I get to the intercom. I told the associate over the intercom that I'm with DoorDash and I was asked to come in.
Once inside, I go to the counter, speak to this tall dark skinned young brutha, tell him the customers that I'm delivering for, and he said the orders would be ready in the next 5-7 min. Around that time, the dark skinned sistah who was at the drive thru window the other day called me to tell me one customer's order was ready. I told this sistah about the other customer's order and she said that wasn't ready yet so I sat down.
After 10 minutes, I asked the same sistah if that other customer's food was ready and she said, "Another Dasher took the order." I was pissed thinking, "How in the world did another Dasher take the order when I clearly told you the customer's name and I was sitting right in front of the counter?"
I sat down for a few moments to think of what I could do for the other customer. I went back to the counter to ask if the order could be made again and I was told no. Next, I sat back down, texted the customer whose order came out to let him know there's a delay because the White Castle employee handed the wrong order to the wrong Dasher, I called the customer whose order was with the wrong Dasher to apologize about the inconvenience, informed that customer Dasher Support would give him a refund, and I began to navigate to Dasher Support to take care of that customer. At this time, 10-15 min or so had gone by since I was told about this crazy mishap and I was still in the White Castle waiting for Dasher Support to answer via IM (primary means of Dasher contact).
All of a sudden, this light skinned/medium brown sistah with dreads at the grill walked towards the counter and said to me, "Excuse me sir, you can't just sit here and chill. That customer's food is gonna get cold and they'll send a complaint to us about it." I angrily replied, "I'm trying to figure this situation out!." She replied, "You need to call Dasher support." Even more infuriated, I replied, "I know!" She said something else that I can't remember. Then, I said, "I wouldn't have been sitting here if you guys didn't hand the wrong order to the wrong Dasher!" She replied, "I had nothing to do with that." She continued to speak, but I continued to talk over her completely enraged, she walked back towards the grill, and continued to mutter aloud that I'm just sitting around.
I truly think that associate had no business saying anything to me at all and I especially didn't appreciate her response, "I had nothing to do with that." Your teammate failed the customer by handing out the wrong order, that customer won't get their food, and I had no choice but to take time to rectify the situation (did so with half pay because I didn't get the customer's order). In the Dasher app, I have to pick up all orders or the app won't let me proceed to the next step at all. I hope DoorDash takes this place...
Read moreI came here to purchase a meal because I needed change for a $20 bill. My meal was nine dollars and some coins. When I got to the drive-through window, the young lady there gave me my change and as she was opening the window to hand it to me I tried to stop her to let her know that I did not want a $10 bill, but I wanted something smaller. Before I can say anything, she told me hold on and closed the window. So naturally, I wasn’t able to tell her what I needed. Once she came back, I tell her, and she then proceeds to tell me that she already rung me up and closed the register so she couldn’t help me. I let her know I tried to tell her sooner. I asked to see her manager. He told me that he cannot give me any change because he was only allowed to give me what was required and that he needed to save his change for other customers that may have needed smaller bills. I told him that I only needed two fives or he could give me some singles. I was not asking for a lot. I am now frustrated because he then proceeds to say “well that’s all I can do and if that’s how you feel then that’s what it is” and close the window. I was not mean nor was I loud, or disrespectful. I did not need to be treated that way over change for a ten dollar bill. Horrible service...
Read moreMy god the stench of this place.
I know they advertise the crave smell, but how can someone crave what smells like burnt onion and a truck stop toilet?
Employees have zero urgency, make mistakes often, and rarely clean their hands or wear gloves.
The place is run down and hard to get in and out of. Parking is bad, and if you go during any rush times, you'll be there for at least half an hour waiting to get in or out of the super busy intersection. Turning west or south out of the lot is impossible even on good days.
What truly frightens me is how they make the beef sliders... They pack chopped onion on the grill and let it burn and char, rot and mildew. They place the tiny square burgers atop this and then place the top bun on the RAW BEEF and let it slowly cook through the wretchedly putrid layer of onions.
I don't know how this is safe nor how they have gotten away with such a horribly unsanitary and food poisoning cooking method, but I advise everyone to AVOID THIS PLACE...
