I'll start by saying that fish sandwich is huge and very tasty. Unfortunately that's the only good thing I have to say .There were no servers, only the bartender, who with only a few customers was in way over his head. To start, the sweet tea was sour and after informing him of this I got a simple "I'm sorry about that" and no offer of something else. Inasked for a diet coke which I never received, not even when food was delivered. I did ask for a water half way through the meal which, when it arrived, was yellow. Needless to say I had no drink with my meal .As I said at first the fish sandwich was very good but my one complaint is that I adked for mayo in place of target and of course didn't get it. Had to ask again and then come to find out it was miracle whip or some brand of salad dressing. To top it all off I ordered the loaded fries (did find it a bit odd that the menu didn't include what the fries were loaded with but didn't think there'd be any reason to ask) which to my amazement and quite honestly my confusion were served with raw onion on top . I've eaten loaded fries at many places and never have they included onion .I'm sure there are people who like this and have no problem with it but I'm not one of those people and having worked in the food service industry for over 30 years can promise that I'm not the minority on this .Simply including that on the menu would have made all the difference as I could have asked that they be left off. To top it all off it was miserably hot inside and the flies were out of control .In conclusion, after waiting a long time to eat here, I have to say that I will never return and if asked would recommend that no one else eat there .So if you are considering Passtime I...

Ok…. I really hate to talk about mom and pop places especially one as established as this one… this is a staple in the jtown community but I must speak on my experience today… For starters I showed up at 6:51 (I checked my call log to see who I was talking to at the point of entry) and the bartender told me it would take 30 minutes for a single burger with cheese… I assume the kitchen didn’t wanna cook burgers anymore and was cleaning the grill for the evening… anyways… so I ordered 2 FAMOUS Cod Sandwiches and some fish nugget things to go. I sat there and watch GOOD LOOKING plates of food come from behind the blacker wall and couldn’t wait to eat. My food came out at a decent time and I went to the football field when I got there I had a piece of fish missing a quarter of the fish and so did my wife’s… THEN, I had no bread in either, no pickles and a bag of chips… so I call back up there. I said “hey Mister i just left and my fish sandwiches aren’t fish sandwiches I don’t have any bread” instead of tryna correct HIS wrong and sayin hey come back I can make this right or I can add bread and pickles he nonchalantly said… well you didn’t ask for bread I said well what’s a sandwich?? On top of that… WHO thinks to ask for bread for a piece of fish that’s suppose to be a sandwich? And ohhhh… the 2 quarter pieces of fish I was missing must have became my daughters fish nuggets because that’s all it looked like was 2 quarter pieces The fish was really good and well seasoned the tartar sauce was excellent… service was HORRIBLE ALSO NO UTENSILS, no napkins REGULAR table hot sauce is now 60 cent… I understand everybody wants to get home at a decent time but don’t sacrifice service...

Great hidden gem of a resturant. I was in town for an overnight on the second Friday of Lent. I wanted a good fish dinner. I was staying at the Hilton Tru and they had Pass-Time Fish House as a suggestion on their hand written "things to do" board. I inquired with the staff and all said everybody loves this joint. I thought my gps had sent me to the wrong location when I turned up the lane to the restuarant. Its back off the road where you would not expect to find one. Wow! This place had cars parked everywhere. The line was out the door, good sign. The place litterally looks like it was picked up by a tornado in Missisippi and dropped in Kentucky! I was by myself with so I made my way past the crowd to an open bar stool just as another patron was leaving. The place was hopping. UK / Alabma game getting ready to tip off. Ordered the "famous" hand cut cod with a chips and a pickle. The bartender very kindly said man we are packed and it will probably be like 40 minutes to get your food. Which is the sign of a well trained staff. There were people being served to the left and right of me and OMG did it look amazing. My food came and it was hands down the best fish I have had in.. Well I cant remember when. Perfectly cooked, seasoned and not greasy at all. It really did not even seem like it was fried. The staff where busy but having fun. The locals were friendly and talkative. The prices are fantastic! Just an all around great local place to go! Perfect example of "dont judge a book by its cover" I highly reccomend! I will be back the next time Im in town to take my family and friends or whom ever I can...

First time at Passtime. You either have to be looking for this place, or just know where it is, because it is off the main road. We were there for lunch. There was plenty of parking in the gravel lot out front. The building and decor are authentic and do not pretend to be anything they aren't. We ordered at the bar. We decided to eat outside, because it was a beautiful day, so they took our names (I guess so they could find us when our meal was ready). They brought our food pretty quick. I had a dressed fried catfish sandwich and my wife had fish fingers. They were very good. The tarter sauce was house made and very good. I had a West 6th on draft. It was also very good. I Thoroughly enjoyed my lunch. I would recommend it to my less delicate friends. For those who can't stand dust on your car or shoes, too bad, you're missing out.

Looks okay outside. Inside is dirty. Cobwebs on an antique piano, LOTS of crumbs in edge of my seat, floors dirty,. THE worst place to eat! I had to soak my shrimp, oysters & cod in napkins b4 I tried it. Ended up NOT eating it & tried giving away to homeless! $54 for 2 platters🤢🤮 This was a "bar setting" so maybe it's just how they do. Guy taking orders was nice but doing everything. I felt bad for him running around. Customers appeared to enjoy things. I guess if you drink alcoholic beverages the grease in the food may help soak up the alcohol. Not for me though. Just too much grease, no seasoning & dirty. Don't forget what they call Slaw - I don't know what it was but spit it out in a napkin like I did the cooked in old grease oysters! Neva, Eva again!

Food. [Passtime Platter, Cod fish plate, Frog legs] Seasoned to our liking. Light on the salt. Subtle notes of lemon and pepper. Lightly breaded and crispy. The remaining grease was soaked in by the bread. You receive tartar and cocktail sauce, which has a nice horseradish kick. Coleslaw wasn't saturated in dressing, always appreciated, however a little sweet. Service. Disappointed. Felt disconnected, maybe too busy for one person or didn't want to be there.... Atmosphere. Nothing that sways like or dislike. Plenty of tvs to enjoy sports. This is definitely more hole-in-the-wall feel. Overall, you're going for the food and nothing else.
