This was my 1st and will be my last visit to this place. Very dissatisfied and expressed that to the cashier to no response. The place is mediocre as you enter. Seems like a small town home cooking type of place. My daughter and I sat down and was greeted and our drink order was taken. We looked over the menu and thought the prices seemed reasonable. My daughter ordered the popcorn shrimp basket and I ordered the BBQ pork sandwich with their fresh cut fries. Based on other restraunts I assumed the sandwich would come with fries, nope its a separate charge. So we waited about 20 min and our food arrived. Wow was that a BIG disappointment. My daughter had about 15 tiny popcorn shrimp and a hand full of fries ($7.99) I had about 2 handfuls of fries ($1.79) and a bbq sandwich with maybe 1/8 cup of meat on a small bun, about the size of a McDonald's regular hamburger ($4.99) I was shocked when I got the ticket and realized that I had to pay $7 for what I was served. We were never offered beverage refills so we finished fairly quickly. We got to the register and advised the young lady of my dissatisfaction and she was like yeah its bad here, I just want to quit. She never offered a manager or a discount, nothing. I paid $23 for a meal that should have been more like $12 based on the amount of food we received. Due to the lack of concern we will not go back and I advise anyone that is new going to find somewhere else. We will stick to travelling into Clanton from now on to one of our regular spots. At least we know the food will be worth what we pay and we won't leave hungry...
Read moreWe had driven by Smokey Hollow Restaurant several times and had been wanting to stop in and try it. This past weekend, we finally got our chance—and it did not disappoint! From the moment we walked in, the staff greeted us with an overwhelming welcome, making us feel right at home, even though we were from another town. They took their time with us, patiently explaining the menu and making us feel like valued guests.
I decided on the country fried steak with a side of fried green tomatoes, and it was the perfect choice. The steak was tender, juicy, and perfectly seasoned, with a crispy coating that had just the right amount of crunch. The fried green tomatoes were a delightful addition—crispy on the outside, tangy and fresh on the inside, and seasoned to perfection.
We also happened to visit on a Friday night and were treated to an unexpected bonus: karaoke night! The atmosphere was lively and fun, with everyone in the room joining in and having a great time. It felt like a big, friendly gathering, where even newcomers like us were encouraged to participate and enjoy the festivities.
If you're looking for a spot that's more than just great food—somewhere that's fun, welcoming, and a bit out of the ordinary—then Smokey Hollow Restaurant is a must-visit. We highly recommend it and can't...
Read moreMe and My Wife have been here twice. Thought they deserved a second chance, wife liked the decor but the food plainly sucks. This is a restaurant that is plainly staffed by people that are on work release / parole never cooked a bit of food or know how the cash register work. Was served a burned cheese sandwich and a raw country fried steak. The flour was still white on the steak and the grilled cheese was not even grilled just two burnt toasted pieces of bread burnt almost black with a slice of cheese in it. The staff on the mean time was giving away free food to some and others were walking out because it was taking so long to get food. This place sets in front of a country ghetto mobile home park and I am sure this is where the talent comes from to pay rent. How this place has a 4.0 on here I cannot imagine after all of the negative ratings posted here saying the same. Also counted the star ratings on this place vs bad and the only positive ratings are 3 years old and the recent ones show plated food on dishware that does not look like the styrofoam...
