Used to love this place.
Went the other night for ease to chill with an older friend who drove. I have been stuck home keeping leg up for a few weeks, so (tried to) keep to least hassle going there instead of dealing Kyle G's ramp. Big mistake.
The new fence was a bummer given my braces knees, so had to hobble around it to get to my hoped for favorite table after parking out back. (older friend complaining about broken glass and pits all along the way)
'My' table was available, but trees have been cut back so no longer shaded in the afternoon. I really used to love the canopy sitting there. It wass so bright and hot there now. Then as twilight hit (when it would finally be more comfy) asked for mosquito spray they used to keep for obvious reasons (more necessary with high fence blocking any breeze from clearing 🦟 under table, but told they don't keep it for patrons anymore. I tried keeping my legs out from under the table, but it was impossible with my injured knees.
Drinks were terrible (oughta' have stuck to bottled Modelo) and food took so long we had to ask it be packed to go. Had planned to order more after happy hour, but was just glad to escape.
It wasn't very busy, but after over an hour waiting for tacos, the waitress finally let us know a cook had run out that night. However it took over ~ 1/2 hour just to get drinks 1 margherita and a screwdriver, both terrible. ¿!Not sure what they are using for lime and orange juice?! Other big rasta waitress was definitely not wanting to help the tiny new girl serving our table. Much dysfunction, bad vibe.
Would blame it on an off night, but major changes are not for the better for too many reasons. Missing the old place. Pre- fence & canopy cutback + would rate them 4-5 stars if / when food and drinks better. They used to have...
Read moreThis is a local hangout for us, never had an issue until tonight. Service was extremely slow. I ordered the street corn appetizer, it never came. Informed waitress and continued waiting. Waited 45 minutes and I FINALLY got the order. I instructed waitress to take it back, that I wasn't paying for it. She was rude and said, "I can't take it back, someone will eat it", as she curtly walked away. When she handed us our bill I told her we would not pay for the corn. She said it was already taken off in the computer even tho it was on our bill bc we could see it was on there. My husband gave her cash, and she returned with the fixed bill, but there was no change. I asked where our change was, and she told me she forgot to bring it. She forgot to bring the change, but remembered to bring the corrected bill ?!?!? So, I finally had enough of her rudeness and asked to speak to the manager. The manager wound up being our waitress, Victoria lol. I explained to her how long I waited for my corn and she replied, "That wasn't my fault, that's the kitchen." Well, either you are the Manager or you or not. I told her she had been rude and never even apologized for how late I got the order. She insisted she apologized, but she ABSOLUTELY never apologized. Everyone at the table was appalled at her rudeness. We love Tako Tiki, but Victoria is a terrible, terrible representation of your establishment. Just an apology would have gone very far, but all I got...
Read moreAtmosphere and service is great! The only reason I give it four stars is because the food is not amazing. The food is okay, and the drinks are just okay as well. The margaritas were in a pint glass, but tasted very weak and not flavorful. The tacos had potential, but really lacked color and vibrance. For example, the pork belly taco had wonderful flavor, but was very dry and empty otherwise. There was one single, sad looking sliver of pickled red onion. The taco really could have used some cabbage, more onion, and some fresh cilantro. The tuna poke taco could have been really good and had a really decent amount of tuna on it, but had one sad little sliver of avocado, feeling very underdressed like the previous Taco mentioned. It lacked in flavor and in texture and just felt very mushy. A good raw tuna taco would have something in there to give it a crunch. I have to say, the kids portions were phenomenal though, and the kids seem to enjoy their ground beef tacos. Unfortunately, the cilantro lime rice had no cilantro or lime qualities to it. It was not very good. The pinto beans however were very tasty. We will definitely go back here, especially during live music events, and maybe just eat light. The overall atmosphere of the place is really good especially when you've come...
