Neptune Bakery & Deli — Restaurant in Jersey City

Let me start by saying this place should be 5 stars. The food is amazing! Most of the time we are served and there are no issues. Today 1-13-2025 ordered 4 sandwiches, nothing out of the ordinary. My husband and mother went to pick the order up and they hadn’t started making the sandwiches until they got there. My mother has never had her order missed. Unfortunately today they dropped the ball. The girl with multi-colored hair was too busy paying attention to my husband to get any part of the order right. We ended up with sandwiches we could have made at home. That is very disappointing because this place has been somewhere I have come to for more than 30 years. It is a shame that someone can’t put their personal feelings aside and make a simple order. I will now have to go in with him every time to make sure we never have her take our order. We ordered sandwiches with lettuce, tomato, mayo and mustard. We did not get what we ordered.

UPDATE: 6/10/2025 I have to say, that I have never seen an establishment more dedicated to customer service, than this place. Since my last review, I have noticed the change in service and I always receive exactly what I ask for. Thank you so much for listening and thank you for always providing an amazing start to my day...

I personally love this place for their sandwiches - roast beef with pepper jack cheese is to die for! Their prices are a bit higher than you'd expect ($6-9) but the meat is in good quality and quantity (so worth it if you don't mind dropping the extra scratch)!

Their bakery side is pretty standard. As an Italian, I was disappointed in the quality of their canoli, but others with less experience may find them on par. They have a great selection of cookies and baked goods that look delicious, but I haven't tried them myself to comment accurately on them but their prices are fair enough for me to suggest you go on a limb and try whatever you think looks good!

Last but not least, they're open 24 hours a day - which makes them the perfect place for a midnight snack or someplace to drop in...
