Been dining at this establishment for some time now. Always had courteous service, Right Portions, and Right Price entrees. Upon arrival, for dinner, we noticed the parking lot empty maybe two other cars. We were greeted by a waiter that recognized us from a previous visit. We were shown to a table and ordered our usual entree. A staff member brought us chips and salsa. The salsa bowls have decreased in size. You have these large chips to try and dip in a tiny bowl now. 👎🏿 Requested a larger bowl for salsa since the chips would break apart when dipping. Time to pay the bill. Noticed an upcharge on our check. Didn’t question it. Paid the bill. Must of been charged for the extra salsa. Returned several weeks later, again the parking lot was empty. We are wondering why but brushed it off to early dine sixish on weekend. We ordered our favorite fajitas for one. Talk about loaded I mean loaded onions, some peppers and hardly any meat. Cold beans and rice. We tried to get our waiter attention to no avail. Another waitress was helping a table nearby when finished we asked if she would get the manager. The mgr visited our table, we inquired if there is a new cook that this plate has definitely shrunk in size since our last visit. We explained we have always ordered fajitas for one it’s just the right amount of food for both of us and she tried to justify the portion amount was correct for one, we needed to order for two. Maybe they have been generous for the past year and now cutting back on portions because of inflation. IDK but definitely changes have been made in the portion size. The overall atmosphere in general gave off bad vibes. Requested our check. While walking out I noticed my waiter attending to a large Party table of 10 or more no wonder he never checked on us again bigger tip. Very transparent they do not treat returning customers with respect...
Read moreThe service was absolutely horrible. Treated my two daughters out to a quesadilla lunch at this establishment. Our waitress in the beginning was rude and had an attitude as if she did not want to serve us. Extremely condescending in her tone and service. I asked for a bowl of queso and she made a point to say exactly, “you know that costs extra “ (as if I didn’t see it as an appetizer on the menu) I said I’m yes ma’am. I asked to substitute refried for charro again, with the , “you know that costs extra, like $1.50 more” I said no problem. Now, I know they have to warn you about extra charges but it was the tone she used. My daughter tried to get her attention to ask for more salsa; the waitress looked at her in the face, rolled her eyes, pulled another waitress over and started throwing her hands as if to gesture she did not want to serve us and for her to come over. Our waitress then takes chips and salsa to table behind us; makes a point to walk past us with no eye contact, no I’ll be right with you, no anything but straight up ATTITUDE! All of a sudden a different lady comes up to our table- there’s a huge language barrier; we have no way to understand each other, leaves and brings us salsa. Another waitress brings our food, which was good by the way. Our original waitress had the table in front, behind and to the side of us but she straight up refused to be cordial or concerned with our table. We have no idea what we did to make that first waitress so unprofessional but I SURE will not be going back! I don’t work as hard as I do to earn my income to take it to an establishment that doesn’t appreciate me bringing business to it while being in the service industry. This place got a 1 star because the food was good but the service...
Read moreLooking for Mexican cuisine in the northwest are of Houston, near Cypress? There are dozens of options and one that I have visited and recommend is El Corral Mexican Grill & Bar.
Approaching El Corral from its Eldridge location, it’s easy to find. El Corral has a house- like appearance, with a triangular roof. The interior of El Corral is larger than expected, with capacity to seat about one- hundred customers. There is a full bar on one side, but it’s not so large that it takes up too much space. It seems just right. Mexican music plays in the background, which adds to the authenticity.
El Corral offers a good assortment of Mexican and Tex Mex options. Most of the meals include a small salad, along with the traditional sides of rice and beans. The salad is simple, but it’s a nice addition to the food and it’s served on the plate with the other items. They serve everyone chips and salsa upon arrival, and it’s spicy, but only slightly. The red sauce is fine, but I liked the green even better. Again, it has some kick, but only slightly.
Food served at El Corral is quite good, and the serving portions are generous. The food is authentic and fresher than that served at some other Mexican restaurants in the area. They have lunch specials, too, with generous servings for a more than fair price. There is a kid’s menu, and breakfast food as well.
El Corral is close to my work, so coming here for lunch makes sense for me. And because of its large size, there should be no problem finding a table for a midday meal. I like what I have experienced, and I recommend a visit if you’re looking for tasty Mexican food, a nice atmosphere, easy parking, and...
