Unacceptable Experience – Both Food and Treatment

I had a deeply upsetting experience at Green Garden Asian Restaurant in Houston. I went in on a Saturday afternoon around 3 PM. The restaurant was mostly empty — just me and a table of four other eastern asian looking customers. The owner was extremely friendly and engaging with them - yet I was entirely ignored.

Let's start with the food. Terrible! The chicken was overly breaded and dry, the rice was overcooked and flavorless. But the worst part wasn’t the food.

When I went to pay, the woman at the counter scolded me for not tipping. I explained there wasn't any service to tip. I ordered, got my food, and ate in silence without so much as a check-in. Not even a basic “how’s everything?” What service?

She then muttered something under her breath in Mandarin — “hei gui.” I know exactly what that means, and it’s a deeply racist slur against Black people - The N-word. That was the breaking point.

Let me be clear: No immigrant, no matter their background, should feel entitled to bring prejudice with them and project it on others. You will be dealt with.

So, this place does NOT deserve the support of the Black community — or anyone who values basic decency. Poor food. No service. And outright racism....

I had placed an order for delivery I waited 35 minutes for it to get here. When it arrived I placed the bag on the counter to open it and start serving the food when I was grabbing the food out of the bag I seen a fly on a the chicken that was hanging out of the To-go box I called the restaurant back immediately and told them and the man asked me were was the fly at and when I told him I’m the bag he said bring it back and I took it back and on the way outside my home he showed up and told me follow him to the restaurant as I go there I walked in I smelled a strong Odor of rat or spray like raid my stomach started going up and I placed the food on the counter and the lady at the front a older lady she said the fly didn’t come from her restaurant and she told me she could make me a new order and the cook came from the back and was telling me everything was clean come take a look and the front counter lady said no that’s rude don’t let her look but at this point I just wanted my money back so I asked her if she could give me my money back and she said you have to call online 3rd party and it took 24 hours to receive my money back!!!!!!! I WILL NOT BE RETURNING THIS PLACE IS UNSANITARY THE LADY AT THE FRONT COUNTER LOOKS LAZY AND THE COOK HAD...

If there was a negative star option, I’d use it. I decided to try this place since it was close to where my daughter trains for volleyball. However, I’ll never visit this place again. This was my first visit and we decided to dine in. My daughter ordered the corn and chicken soup, but didn’t like it. The waiter was very understanding.

Unfortunately, the manager/owner I’m guessing was very rude. She came to ask us what was wrong. And I explained we didn’t like it. She proceeded to tell me we ordered and should be responsible because those are costs we have to eat. I was like excuse me ?!?!!! Then she said she would take it off the bill this one time, but next time we gotta pay if we don’t like. Let’s just say it definitely will NOT be a next time. Customer service is not what it used to be anymore. I would not recommend that this place to spend your hard earned money. Go...
