At a recent visit, we were surprised by the service, the time to get our food and the background noise from staff. We normally always have really good quick service. I wouldn't take the time to comment if it hadn't been for a few factors. When we arrived there were 3 other tables finishing up their food, so everything was quite and not busy. We arrived at 5 minutes until the hour and the server came out to ask about our drinks ,returned to get our order with our drinks. We asked for our bread to come out right away while we waited. The waitress looked like went to go get our bread but then never came back as started talking with the other staff members. There were 4 other staff members in the waitress area, (1 appeared to have been the manager (hard to tell as dressed in street clothes without a name tag). Maybe 5-10 minutes had passed and another patron came to eat, they ordered immediately and their food was on their table in under 4 minutes. Their waitress looked at us two times but never once mentioned to anyone about why we hadn't gotten our food nor asked us if we had ordered. By this point we had been waiting about 15 minutes, still no sight of our food or our waitress. During this time, all the other staff were talking, laughing and cutting up very loudly and not paying any attention to the tables with guests. All awhile I was about to have a medical event due to needing food, hence why I didn't go try and find our waitress and asked for the bread immediately. My guest eating with me is handicap and couldn't go. Finally at 17 minutes past the hour the "manager" saw me looking his way and he glanced at our table and asked the others, did table 42 ever get their order? He looked up at the cooking menu and saw nothing, he asked the others who our server was. He couldn't find her and ended up having to page her. I heard him ask her about our order, there wasn't much said, she came out and sat down our bread and said it shouldn't be much longer and quickly walked away before we even had a chance to say anything. Three minutes later, our food was brought out, without any kind of apology for her forgetting to put our order in and our 20-25 minute wait in an empty restaurant. Once again she walked away before we had time to say anything. I also noticed as soon as the "manager" realized our order was never put in, he conventionally disappeared instead of coming out to take accountability and apologize for our long wait like managers would at other restaurants. He left for the day before we finished so never came by to address this situation properly. The waitress never came back to refill our drinks or to see if we needed anything. My guest was still eating and I noticed that our waitress was getting her food to go and had her coat on as she was waiting for us to leave, but we were not finished. What happened next is what really burned me up and disappointed me about the staff and management who have waited on us before, so know we take longer than most patrons. My guest is special needs and has difficultly with eating. So to hear our waitress and the other waitress make a comment about us taking so long while laughing saying we were eating slow on purpose really IRKED me!! at the level of disrespect on their part, plus the fact we were forgotten about to begin with and not a single apology from anyone nor to discount our meal. I wasn't planning to leave her a tip due to all of this but it was obvious that is what she was waiting on. When we checked out I said something to the cashier, her only response was "you should have told us"...I explained why I didn't and that it wasn't my responsibility, it was the waitress and manager. Still no apology or discount on our meal as she rang us up. Our bill showed that the order was placed at 18 minutes past the hour..... Very Disappointed to say the least in how they all chose to behave and handle...
Read moreWhere do I begin. When I arrived with my senior parents the hosted said let me see what table is clean. They were busy so it was understandable. Then she seated us within 2 minutes. Thank you, hostess, for that promptness.
We waited for about 5 minutes before someone finally realized we were there. She came took our drink order and our food order. We had already had plenty of time to decide. It took her 8 minutes to get back with some old coffee and 2 sodas. I watch my phone clock as soon as I sit down. As my time is valuable. This was pretty unacceptable.
I had to flag her down 5 minutes later to get a fresh cup of coffee because it was not good. She offered to make a fresh pot it showed up 7 minutes later after I had to ask her if it was done. It was also not tasty.
Then I ask her to sit drinks on the table because I was afraid, she would never return. We were halfway through the soda. I knew this was our chance to at least not to wait on a refill. I told my mother we would have to conserve our refill drink because we may not get another one.
So 10 minutes went by, another 10 minutes now 20 minutes. I watch this waitress ask everyone if they are doing ok how is their food. She never ask us. She never checked on us again. This was suspicious. I told my mother I speculate that she forgot to put our order in. I use to be a waitress and the only time wait staff avoided customers if it they goofed up. Now that is just speculations but something clearly was off. 10 more minutes went by and Bread showed up on our table. 2 biscuits, 2 pieces are hard white bread, and 2 cold rolls.
I saw a manager pass me with plates for customers that came in after we did. I flagged him down and ask his name and as if he was a manager. He told me his name was Justin. I then informed him I would like to talk to him when our meal was done. He introduced the manager beside him and she heard me tell him that I would speak to him after we ate. Our food arrived as I was talking to him.
We received a 2 piece chicken breast dinner laying on a hard biscuit. The hard biscuit was confusing. A turkey dinner that lived up to it's expectations. And a Small breakfast with burnt bacon and what they were trying to pass off as a scrambled egg. But, it was a beaten egg that was fried.
While we begin to dine on this sad thrown together meal the 2nd manager that was with Justin appeared. She said me I heard there were issues or something of that nature. This was after she heard me tell Justin I would speak to him after we ate. We had already been waiting to long to make the decision to get up and leave. I told her I would talk to her after we ate because if I did it while I was eating I was just going to get angry. I felt as if she disrespected us by interrupting our meal by wanting to address a problem that we clearly stated we were not ready to discuss.
The waitress comes over and says "If your bread is hard I can bring you some more." So, clearly this woman knew she brought me hard bread but, just now wants to address after a few managers have came over. I had not even mentioned it to her. She ask my parents if they wanted butter this was 20 -30 minutes after that bread came out.
We really did not want anything else from her but we had to ask for boxes to go for my parents meals. So we did that. A very nice manager named Shaylin came over when she saw we were nearing the end of our atrocious adventure. She introduced herself and we started to talk. She listened intently to everything I said. As the waitress snuck around the tables pretending to clean them. I said to Shaylin let's take a walk.
So we walked toward the front and I continued to voice my concerns. I have been to Bob Evans many times. I have ordered family meals to go and picked them up without disappointment. But, this time was an...
Read moreI ordered thru door dash and paid a higher price. I have left a private review, but will tone that down and tell the rest of the story. I put an order in around 6:15 or so for dinner and got the Mother’s Day plate with some extras. The plate looked bad. Like the beans were ladeled with no draining. Everything was swimming. The gravy was watered down. The usual serving size of beans was really small and looked like the last of them were caught with a soup ladle from the bottom of the pot and the bean water was left to fill the meal out. Literally everything was drenched. The gravy was watered down completely. The mash potatoes had an odd taste on just one side. I couldn’t put my finger on it but floor dirt came to mind. There was no floor dirt. It was a capsule of medication that was dumped on/in there like aspirin. Not a lot but quite distinct something was in them. The rolls had no color at all, but had seen enough heat to harden on top. Just hardened dough color. They were not brushed with egg or oil or butter and no butter came with them. I was not interested in using them to sop up 1 part gravy mixed with 3 parts bean water. Soggy breading. Skimped on turkey slices and just added chunks hard for a senior to chew. I threw the extras in the trash. Gave the restaurant my private review but then took the containers out of the trash. The apple pie with that great double crust was totally soggy. Not dripping but every bit of the crust was thoroughly damp. I can’t believe they would serve that to in-house diners. They served it to me. Tossed it to the trash again. The coleslaw was more dressing than slaw. The slaw was so watery it looked like it was bottom of the container too. The biscuits were almost ok for a good game of cricket. All of it went to the trash. This had been my fave so far in Johnson city for breakfast and for dinner. I can’t believe they let an order like this leave the restaurant. Sure I won’t break their bottom line by avoiding this chain, but honest reviews will catch up if the continue slopping the food and spiking/contaminating food. They should fire the punk who...
