The one star is rated due to customer care by the business/owner. My husband went to the bakery today to purchase 6 Zeppoles based on their website at $4.75 apiece. After he purchased them, it came to my attention that his credit card was charged more that I expected. Unfortunately, my husband was unaware of how much more he was being charged. I did not tell him what was priced on the website because I did not think it would have been an issue for him. Also, with the crowds inside and outside, he just wanted to make his purchase and get out of there as soon as possible. I contacted the bakery by phone and had to wait 20 minutes on hold. Understandable because they are very busy today. I was told that the price of the Zeppole was increased I believe by $1.24 each. I expressed that I was not happy because they should honored their website price. I was told the owner didn’t have time to change it and that they would not honor that price. This is what is happening all over by owners of businesses who have websites. They should not be allowed to increase their product unless they change their website first. I’m sure he knew he wanted to increase his prices and therefore should have had time to change it on the website. Giving him the benefit of the doubt, he should at least posted a sign on his door advising to his customers that due to all increases that the price of Zeppole has increased more than what is shown on the website. At least notify the customer could make a choice if they were willing to pay that increase before waiting a long time to get in to order. As far as rating the Zeppole, I give it 5 stars. However, if I had known of the increase, I personally would not have purchased them because how expensive they have become.. It cost me...
Read moreI went in yesterday for lunch. The cashier told me that my calzone came out to $13, to which I remarked “ohh I love when it comes out to an even number!” As that does not usually happen.
An hour later, my bank calls me, telling me that I had been charged $3,546, $34.47, and $1.00. Shocked and horrified, I returned to the bakery and told them the issue. They said that their machine must have made a mistake, and promised to rectify the issue the next day. Forward to today, and instead of solving the issue, I was told that my bank had made the mistake, and accused me of trying to score a free meal. After strenuously requesting that the store contact the owner, and then requesting the owners number, I was told by the manager that she would be calling the police! This turned out to just be a scare tactic, as she then emerged having spoken with her brother (the owner), and refunded $22.51.
I have never given a bad review before. I am not a Karyn, and was not being disruptive, simply attempting to rectify the issue which has left me with no money. Instead of being apologetic and helpful, they were rude, disinterested, and threatened to call the police! To top it all off, it wasn’t even a good calzone. I know that this bakery has a lot of loyal supporters, including my grandfather and I, who have gone here for years. However, this entire situation was so outrageous that I highly recommend that people reconsider that loyalty. My hands are still shaking and I feel sick to my stomach, and will never return to this...
Read moreLet me start off by saying that the zeppoles and pizza chips I bought from here were delicious, and the young lady at the cash register was lovely. However, whoever the cranky older woman was that came out from the back had absolutely NO interpersonal skills! I had ordered 3 dozen SMALL zeppoles (I'm fairly certain I got regular size, unless regular size is the size of a pie!). I asked the young lady if I could have 3-4 empty boxes so that I could further divide them when I got to work. The older woman came around from the back and said in an angry voice that they could not/would not rebox them since I had not ordered them that way. I explained that I simply wanted a few extra boxes to divide the pastries when I got to work. She then said, "Well, you''ll have to pay for them." I told her that I was happy to pay--I just wanted the extra boxes. While I WAS happy to pay for them, you would think they could throw me a few empty boxes since I spent $113. This was my first experience at this bakery. While the products were delicious, the cranky lady left a bad taste in my mouth. I'll go to one of the other many bakeries in our area from here on who provide friendly...
