Brava Banquet — Restaurant in Joliet

TRY THIS PLACE!! So glad we checked this little cafe out! It's so cute inside, super clean and the tables were set far apart so we felt comfortable dining in. The owners explained the foods were we didn't recognize and offered to make us a combo dessert plate so we could try a few things. Chips & Guac are a can't miss... the guac was made to order and sooo fresh, served with chips fresh from the fryer, warm and crisp. We ordered a lot to try as much as we could: Tacos al Pastor were tender and flavorful on fresh corn tortillas. Carne Asada Huarache (like a thick, doughy, oval shaped tortilla) was out of this world. The 4 Cheese Papusa (their best seller) is craveworthy as were the delicate Potato Empananadas with a delicious Pickled Cabbage Slaw. An Elote Tamale was warm and tender & the desserts were to die for. They had a nice variety of Aguafrescas they let us try before we chose Passionfruit and a tamarind. "Hole in the Wall" kinda place, small yet cozy family own/run establishment. At first glance I was deceived by the façade but once I entered I was surprised by the freshly renovated modern-ish interior. It immediately gave me the sense of comfort, staff was very friendly and welcoming. It has a variety of foods for everyone's taste from tacos to pupusas. Pupusas were on the small side for my liking but were very flavorful I just had to order me an extra one to get full. Second time around I had me some tacos just to try, since many places in the Joliet area have failed miserably on the most basic and well known Mexican food and they did not disappoint. Driving through Chicago on I-80 found this out of the way place. Had the Jalapeño Papusa and the Asada Sopas, and Plantain with Horchata. Haven't had a lot of Salvadorian food but this place hit the spot. Must say after the fare you get on the Interstate this place was awesome. Service was great. Delicious!! It took longer than we expected for the food to come out, but we are there when it first opened, so they may be faster now. Wow wow wow! The food was so so so good!
