This is a great place to come out to celebrate any special occasion. The outside patio with a fireplace is a nice way to enjoy the few summer days in the midwest. The interior is set up like an hacienda and is very easy to accommodate almost any size party, the way the dining room is sectioned off. The bar is nice and carries a very large variety of tequilas and a nice selection of beers. If you go on a Sunday, take advantage of the half of margaritas, they are delicious. The atmosphere is laid back and relaxing. The service is phenomenal, the staff does a phenomenal job keeping your glasses of water full and your table clean. The food is above average and a little more on the Tex-Mex side. The portions are slightly on the small side, but they do a good job spreading it on the plate to give it the appearance of large portion. I have to come back for a dinner and a drink on a day when the mariachi band is playing. The one last thing I would like to point out is the credit card fee. I can't believe that they don't even mention it at all. They are trying to force their customer's to pay cash.

When me and my daughter first arrived at the restaurant the outside looked promising. Once we stepped inside it went downhill fast from there. The lighting in the place is very bad. It was so bad we had to use the flash on our phone to read the menu. We got the usual chips and salsa. Nothing special about them. Salsa tasted like cheap tomato sauce from the can. The waitress that took our order and brought our food had no mask this is in the middle of a mask mandate 11/21. To make things worse no one except one person had on a mask that worked there. When I asked why she didn’t have one on she simply replied “ oh it’s our decision to wear it or not. “ wow! Once we received our food we had to get up and ask for salsa. You know the traditional rojo or verde. The head hosted gave me so much attitude and scoffed like he couldn’t believe I had bothered him all while rolling his eyes and head. Then he tells me “oh you do t have any salsa left from your chips?” At this point I just wanted to eat and leave. The enchiladas were medium warm. I ordered the cheese which was not melted and thick still. Everything had a bland taste. The guacamole was bland and needed salt even my 10 year old daughter beat me to the punch. This is by far one of the worst Mexican restaurants I’ve been to. I could’ve done better at home. Will never waste my money at this hole in the wall again.

After being seated, I was served a basket of chips and a very small cup of salsa. When my waiter arrived, I asked for a bowl of salsa like the one the queso comes in and he refused and he returned with another small cup that was also only half full. I ordered a burrito and the jalapeño queso dip and asked about getting a larger salsa, he said he'd have to charge me 6 dollars for the salsa, because they don't allow you to have much. Fine, I agree and he brings a bowl and the queso which was 8.50.. I ask for more chips, and he tells me that will be another 6.00.. My complete dining experience was 42 bucks and change for a burrito and a coke, a cheese dip and chips and salsa.. For 1 person.. and that's before a tip. Charging 9 bucks for a large cheese dip and NOT PROVIDING CHIPS TO GO WITH IT is a huge issue.. I have to pay for both? So my dip and chips was actually 15 bucks.. smh.. On a side note, the atmosphere was pretty relaxing, typical music on the speakers, dim lighting, it was nice! And my burrito was EXCELLENT! It's just really sad and disappointing that the good is overshadowed by the extreme lack of customer service. You can't even provide chips when a customer PAYS extra for more salsa or queso?? C'mon..

Great place! We have always had a great experience here and the food is traditional and flavorful. A good selection of dishes and appetizers, perfect for family and friends especially when we have out of town visitors, it's one of our flãvorite places to go when the craving exist. If the children are not big on traditional Mexican, there is a small section in the menu that they'll definitely enjoy as well. If you prefer a romantic setting, they have you covered... just ask to be placed in a quiet area away from the larger groups or the chatter and clatter from the groups with children... they do their best to accommodate. Drinks are also good and nominal for the area. So whatever your fare and you're having to decide on what to eat for breakfast, lunch or dinner~ you won't be disappointed unless you're one of those super finicky food junkies then, I don't know what to tell you but do try to enjoy. Deuces ✌

Went to La Mex for an early dinner to sit on their beautiful patio, enjoy the weather and have great Mexican food but, we were very dissapointed. The chips and salsa were plain. Chips tasted store bought and the salsa did not have flavor - wasn't even spicy. Asked the waiter for spicy salsa and what he brought was so much better! Ordered the white jalapeño cheese as an appetizer but it was brought with our main course - cheese was pretty good. Our main dish were fish tacos - very bland, no flavor and a lot of fat soaking the tortillas. We had to add a lot of the spicy salsa to make them taste okay. Not to mention that in my tacos I found a piece of newspaper/paper. The rice, not worth eating either. The mango margarita and the piña colada were great through! But I would not be coming back unfortunately. My abuela can make better food than this "fine Mexican cuisine".

Went for an early dinner. Started with an appetizer plate. The spinach quesadillas were very good. I wasn't sure what to expect, but they were delicious. The shrimp and carne asada were seasoned well and really could have been a meal on their own. I ordered the Steak Mexicali and was pleasantly surprised. The plate was filled with steak, peppers, onions, tomatoes and mushrooms in a tasty red sauce. It was served with tortillas, refried beans, rice, guac, and sour cream. The meat was tender and was enough to make at least four filled tortillas. My husband ordered the combo fajitas, which included chicken, steak and shrimp. Again the plate was piled high and he had plenty of leftovers to take home. Our server was friendly and we got our meal quickly, although we were not rushed. I will definitely return to try sone of their other meals.
