Oberweis Ice Cream and Dairy Store — Restaurant in Joliet

We had a family reunion after 22 years of not seeing eachother at a restaurant down the street. It was no problem for us to sit together at the restaurant. We decided to visit Oberweis in Plainfield for dessert afterwards. After spending 60 dollars on ice cream we pushed a few tables together since there was 10 of us. We were excited to continue catching up on 22 years. But then, an employee came over to us and told us we were not allowed to sit together. They made us socially distance from our own family. We sat at 3 separate tables and tried visiting with eachother but we were so spread apart the conversations were divided and it was very disappointing. When my 9 year old daughter had to use the bathroom we noticed there was no men's or women's room. Only "guest rooms". We unfortunately chose the guestroom with a urinal in it. My daughter used the restroom disgusted she was eye level with a urinal. I peeked inside the other guestroom and noticed there was no urinal in what used to be the women's restroom. I order from here at least twice a week; I’ve probably placed over 40 orders on either DoorDash, Uber eats, etc. Last night was a bad experience. Last night I ordered a strawberry raspberry smoothie and the thing had giant chunks of ice and full ice cubes. I’ve ordered the smoothie before and it a pleasant icy smooth texture. I also ordered a triple scoop. I listed in the special instructions for fuller scoops; which I do every time because depending on who makes they either give me reasonable scoops or very small. Last night was the smallest scoops they ever gave and it almost seemed on purpose. Today Feb 5th I placed another order through Uber eats. I specifically stated in the instructions I didn’t want whip cream or a cookie in my shake. Unfortunately I end up getting both.. Disappointing because I order from them so much.

Update - the store didn’t follow special instructions and received watery shakes. I contacted the email and they still...

Fantastic ice cream and dairy products! We've been going to this Oberweis for years, mostly for the glorious shakes but also for sundae's, quart ice cream, cakes and pies. We also have had their home delivery for 2 years now.

As others have said, it's a little pricey. I feel it's justified though because the ice cream and related products are just so rich and creamy. You can even smell it in the store, the scent of the whipped cream, it's incredible. You can also get quarts of ice cream at the store, cakes, milk, etc, and I've even seen t-shirts and cups for sale. I was tempted to get one of their over-sized coffee cups today in fact.

Their customer service is fantastic too. I've contacted them twice over the years about this particular location and both times I was compensated after the problem occurred.

Whenever we go out for ice cream, we go to Oberweis. I don't even want to bother going...
