Gee Street Kitchen is a diamond in the rough, that's for sure. I had been wanting to try Gee Street Kitchen for months, mainly because I love soul food- nothing beats a homestyle southern meal. So, when I walked into the restaurant I was expecting just that. What I actually got was so much better. They had almost everything you would expect to get at a soul food restaurant, the restaurant I was hoping for, but not everything, so I was a little disappointed, especially when I learned that they don't have catfish(the food I originally came here for), but instead white fish fillets. I decided to give it a try anyways. My experience told me to never, ever judge a book by its cover. The Fillet Fish Platter is what you want to get when you go to Gee Street Kitchen, hands down. It honestly may be better than catfish, but I would have to try it again to really make sure(which is a great excuse to eat here again). The breading was exactly what you would expect for catfish, but the fish itself tastes a lot more fresh than catfish. It was soft and basically broke apart immediately. It was genuinely the best fried fish I had eaten in a long time. I believe it was either the owner or the chef who came by our table to see how I ended up liking the fish as they knew I was disappointed by the lack of catfish, and when I told him I absolutely loved it, he told me "It's how you cook the fish, not the type of fish," and he was right. They cooked the fish perfectly. The fried okra was also just right, exactly what you want at a southern homestyle restaurant. I also got a side of mashed potatoes, which you can tell were made through instant mashed potatoes, but its a cafeteria-style restaurant, so that was a given. My boyfriend got the cafeteria-style dinner plate, and the day we went the main entree was meatloaf, which he got with yams and fried okra. He loved it, but I am biased towards the fish, however I know Gee Street Kitchen is known for their cafeteria style plates too. I can't wait...

This is an Amazing place! A Hidden Gem!!!! I happened upon this place by reading local food reviews. I thought I’d give it a try because of all of its positive reviews. Well, I was not disappointed! I was Hooked!!! Now I try to eat here at least once a week! Not at all fancy but the folks are kind and cheery. The food is Home-style Comfort with a twist of Southern ! They have a menu, daily plate lunches and daily specials! My personal favorite is Fish on Friday! They have the best burger you will find anywhere! They have things like mash potatoes and gravy, meatloaf, fried chicken, and vegetables! All I can say is if you haven’t been here… you are missing out ! IF you Have been here… You will be back again...

I have been coming here from their first place on Gee in the gas station. This is by far the best place to get southern style home cooking in Jonesboro. The price of a lunch plate is equivalent to any combo meal at any fast food chain so I feel better that my earned dollars are staying in my community. The owners and gentlemen cooks are always so friendly and generous (with their smiles and the portions)! I always have either the meatloaf or the salisbury steak always with their grilled cabbage because its the best! My husband enjoys their fried chicken breast or a burger with fries. I continue to eat here about once a month even if its just for take away. Thanks for all the years of great food and...

The best homemade burger in town so far! It's THICK and juicy. The owner cooked it. Awesome crinkle cut thick crispy fries. I believe the man who took our order was Robert. He provided us with great customer service! I watched him follow a man out asking him to please let them know how the food is. He said tomorrow 1/10/2020 they are BBQ'ing and invited us to come back saying to get there early though before the BBQ ran out. My picture does not do the food justice. Thank you G Street Kitchen! I will be back for more great food. BTW .. The fish is HUGE filets and great taste.
