Mad Mary's Gift Shop & Soda Fountain — Restaurant in Joseph

Also see review for Ice Cream Station Mad Mary's is a great place to find souvenirs and keepsakes. We found some coffee mugs here that were really nice and didn't break the budget. They had some really nice shirts and sweatshirts touting various Joseph, Oregon slogans as well as other hats and items with slogans. I liked the carved wood elevation maps of the Eagle Cap Wilderness. They varied in size and cost, and I'll likely come back and get the large one for $200. They have cooking spices, flavored local honeys, huckleberry snacks. They have kids toys, puzzles, entertainment and gizmos galore. It reminds me a lot of Flamingo Jim's in Rockaway Beach but more room to move around and relaxed. The store is very clean and we'll organized. Mary was helping work the counter while we were there and was very friendly and happy to see how pleased we were with the place. Honestly, if you have kids then this place is a must for a trip to Joseph. You won't regret it. My son picked out a coonskin hat and a cap gun 😂 and my daughter picked some hello kitty gotcha collectibles. She opened them up on the way home after fireworks and was very pleased with the surprises she found inside. And my son wore the hat the rest of the trip. It's lovely they have public restrooms. I applaud them for that. I deeply apologize that my 7 year old needed to use it so badly when I was back at the restroom door for employees that I didn't take the time to look much harder. I couldn't see your public sign at all. It's on the wall next to the door right by the clothes, hiding, unless you are in front of it.

The one star rating is for your absolutely reprehensible attitude and words toward me and my son. And unfortunately not just us; but to your employee as well. The girl up front told me to go to the back and turn left. Maybe she said halfway back. I don't recall. It doesn't matter. Your actions do. If it truly matters that much to you, lock the door, put up a better public restroom sign from the ceiling all can see... Something. But it is never okay to talk to another person that way. I wish you had just kicked me out instead. It would have made more sense. And I wouldn't have taken the time for this review.

It's a shame. Based on the rest of your reviews your place is quite awesome. And your town is stunning. The shops surrounding you were all fantastic filled with fantastic people. I hope this review helps you sort out a better bathroom sign and gives an honest apology for using your employee...

A nice place to stop in Joseph for frozen treats with a classic soda fountain shop.

The menu offers milkshakes, frozen yogurt, sundaes, dole whip and many other treats with a wide variety of toppings.

I did have to wait to wait a few minutes for service as nobody was working the counter.

I selected the banana dole whip and sat down to eat.

The dole whip was smooth and not really sweet.

The shop features counter seating, a checkerboard floor and lots of chrome.

A gift shop is next to the soda shop and has a number of interesting things to look at.
