Martinez Tacos — Restaurant in Kankakee

Food for the price is five stars. Like many family run restaurants, things like cleanliness and service are substandard. If we were doing take out, this would be five stars. We ate at the restaurant. The restaurant has about 10 tables. Half of them were not bussed and had food and top on the tables still.

The server was nice. The food was good with a homemade quality. The buffet was well above average minus the fruit. Prices were very good.

As long as you temper your expectations when dining in, this is a great place to eat since the food is good. If you are here more for the experience or are a restaurant snob, this place may be a one or two star place. If you are used to buffets and substandard service, this will be a four or five...

Normally the lunch buffet is great, but today not so much. Everyone was disappointed. There were two dishes that were mole sauce based. One had an entire tray full of sauce, and two chicken legs. The other was also full of mole sauce and was a fishing game to find the fragments of steak, which turned out to be potatoes instead. All in all I had probably 2 oz of meat. There was no other meat. Pretty sad. When I said something to the lady, she said we have something different everyday. Well, my suggestion to all of you is check the buffet out BEFORE you eat. Obviously, this was my fault. Ive been ordering here for a few months now. It was my sunday work lunch goto. At first, it was great. Lately though, i havent liked the tacos nearly as much. Today, the steak tacos were almost inedible. There were chunks of unchewable meat in each taco (yes i still ate them, i paid and i only get 30 minutes for lunch, the consequences will be paid by the hour later 😂) and they gave me the smallest portion of chips ive ever recieved, let alone paid for. It was enough to fill the free baskets most mexican restaraunts hand out and i barely put a dent into the large cup of salsa they gave me.
