I really wanted to like this place and be a regular customer. This place is 20 minutes from me so I have made the effort to come out and support a few times now but I keep experiencing issues every time I come :/ Here are the problems:
Majority of items are out of stock and I have come here on weekdays around 10am (they are open til 5) I ask how long the wait will be for any of these items to be made and the cashier will say they’re not making it. Okay, bummer. I come back again a different time thinking maybe they’ll have these items to try next time, nope. Out of stock and same answer. Not sure when I’ll ever be able to order what I actually want when every time I come, 80% of items (besides sandwiches) are not there and unknown when it ever will be.
Inconsistent coffee. Depends on who is making it. I’ve ordered the same coffee and it’s tasted different every time. I believe it was the owner who made it for me the first time and it was perfect. Ever since, the other employees haven’t made it the same (too milky or too sugary or very weak/watered down)
They’re super busy with their door dash orders and multiple people coming in and out behind the counter that it’s a lot going on and I’ve experienced my order wrong twice and I don’t notice until I’m home so check before you leave. I have ordered and paid for items that weren’t in my bag and another time where the wrong item was put in my bag.
I had one of their sandwiches that said it came with a mojo sauce but there was hardly any sauce. It was really, really dry.
I hope one day to return where the coffee will be consistent and the food will be in stock.
Updated response: Hi Karell, Thanks for taking the time to reply. I want to clarify that my review wasn’t written to harm your business, but to honestly reflect my experiences as a customer who has visited your shop three separate times and bringing others with me to support your business. However, each visit came with different issues. Whether it was most items being out of stock, inconsistent coffee quality, or incorrect/missing items in my takeout order. My goal was to support a local business despite these challenges, but after three visits, I felt it was fair to share my experience. I understand you have many positive reviews, but that doesn’t invalidate my experience. My feedback is honest and based on repeated visits, not a one-time issue. A 3-star review is more than fair considering the ongoing problems I encountered. I hope it's taken as constructive feedback and an opportunity to improve, not a personal attack. Best of luck...
Read moreI’ve been counting down the days to try Cortadito KC since before they even opened, and wow — it was everything I hoped for and more.
We started with a café bon bon for me and café con leche for my husband — and let me just say, we haven’t had coffee this good since our honeymoon in Puerto Rico back in 2021. It was perfectly balanced: lightly sweet, bold, and rich in that deep, authentic flavor you just don’t find in most U.S. spots — but now you do!
We shared a pastelito de coco with our kids and everyone loved it. Flaky crust, real coconut filling (not that artificial goo), and just the right amount of sweetness. We will absolutely be ordering more next time.
For our meals, I had the pan con lechón and my husband got the Cubano. I’m still dreaming about that sandwich. As a Puerto Rican, pernil is my holiday love language — and this pork? Juicy, flavorful, perfectly salty. Paired with crusty bread and that dipping sauce? Next level. My husband said his Cubano was the best sandwich he’s ever had — and I stole a bite to confirm: it’s legit.
We added house-made plátano chips (a hit with our kids) and finished with a flan de coco that was pure chef’s kiss.
The vibes? Immaculate. Great energy, amazing music (they even played Bad Bunny’s Café Con Ron — my favorite!), and the owner was clapping along with our daughter. It felt warm, familiar, and so nostalgic — like a slice of the Caribbean right here in KC.
We left full, happy, and already planning our next visit. Gracias, Cortadito KC. You’ve got a...
Read moreMy wife and I are in our 60s with grown children, and we love exploring unique and delicious food options throughout Kansas City. We've enjoyed everything from Indian and Ethiopian to Greek cuisine—and now, we're thrilled to have discovered Cortadito Cuban Café!
We found this gem through Google and, as always, you never quite know what to expect—but what an incredible experience it turned out to be! The food was absolutely spectacular, the service was warm and genuine, and the overall vibe of the restaurant was simply amazing. The neighborhood felt very safe, and parking was convenient and easy.
We had the pleasure of speaking with the owners, who graciously shared their beautiful story of immigrating to the United States from Cuba. It made our visit even more special, connecting us to the heart behind the incredible food.
When we rate restaurants, our main question is: Would we go back? The answer here is a resounding YES! In fact, we’re already planning to return with friends and family. We’re excited to make Cortadito Cuban Café one of our regular spots for an outstanding, reasonably priced meal.
