El Machetazo Mexican Food — Restaurant in Kansas City

The atmosphere of the restaurant spelled out authentic Mexican food without overdoing it. Service was quick to sit us down to offer a menu and drinks. What was unique is that they do not give chips and salsa as all other Mexican joints do. They offer chicharon pinwheels with hot sauce which I think made it better and brought my Hispanic childhood back with memory of the heladero (ice cream man). I ordered empanadas that I had never tried with chicken meat, my daughter chose sopes with Al Pastor meat. My wife got tacos with Al Pastor meat too. They both liked their dishes and mine was yummy with both the green sauce and red sauce. I will go back to try...

I read the great reviews and decided to try them. I did not experience what the reviews have stated. I ordered online simply a combo burrito and it was horrid. Steak had no flavor and the shrimp were not of quality including hard and over cooked. Never ever again. I had to throw it in the trash. Very poor customer service with a language barrier. The person behind the counter asked for my receipt of my online order and payment and would not hand me my food without seeing it which has never happened before. Food was ok but the service on this little lady like a 16 years old was very bad all the time we asked her for salsa or lime or more food she make faces like saying for real again . I eat there before and was ok but looking like they changed ownership people i ask no lettuce ...
