---{ Food }--- ☐ I think I left my appetite in there somewhere ☑ I'd trade my left shoe to eat here again ☐ Not bad, but my taste buds expected a standing ovation ☐ Just like my aunt's cooking - not terrible, not fantastic ☐ I've had more excitement eating dry toast ☐ I've tasted better cardboard
---{ Service }--- ☐ I half-expected the waiter to knight me with a butter knife ☑ They didn't spill soup in my lap, so that's a win ☐ Service with a side of shoulder shrugs ☐ I'm pretty sure they thought I was a potted plant ☐ I'd have better luck getting service from a cat
---{ Culinary Performance }--- ☑ I considered proposing to the chef ☐ I would fight a bear for another bite ☐ If it were a movie, it'd be a straight-to-DVD production ☐ My microwave could out-cook this ☐ I've had more flavor in a glass of water
---{ Presentation }--- ☐ It looked so good, I almost felt guilty eating it ☑ Like a Mona Lisa made of mashed potatoes ☐ It's like they tried to make a sculpture out of my meal ☐ I've seen better-plated dog food ☐ My plate resembled a food crime scene
---{ Value for Money }--- ☐ I'd sell my soul for another bite at this price ☑ I didn't have to mortgage my house for dinner ☐ You might need a second dinner afterward ☐ I've paid less for a down payment on a car ☐ My microwave has a Michelin star in comparison
---{ Overall Impression }--- ☐ I'm naming my firstborn after the chef ☑ It won't replace my childhood memories, but it's a close second ☐ If meals were cars, this one would be a reliable sedan ☐ If my taste buds had a shrug emoji, they'd use it here ☐ I've had more memorable naps
San Antonio's has become my go-to taco spot when I'm showing someone aroung KC, and here's why.
My usual order consists of either 5 tacos or a combination of 2 tacos and 1 burrito. The carne asada has been a standout choice for me - incredibly flavorful. My personal favorite is the lengua (tongue) taco. While the texture might not be everyone's cup of tea, the richness of this fatty meat is undeniable, and it absorbs a remarkable amount of flavor, making it a must-try.
Seating at San Antonio's is adequate and comfortable for enjoying your meal. One standout thing that they carry is their Coke made with real sugar.
What sets this place apart is their commitment to quality. The fact that they make their own tortillas is a game changer. The freshness and flavor of these tortillas elevate the entire experience. It's a testament to the dedication to providing patrons with top-notch, homemade fare.
The staff at San Antonio's deserves a special mention. Not only are they consistently friendly, but they've also introduced a thoughtful touch by reading out order numbers in English when the food is ready. It's these small details that contribute to the overall positive experience and inclusivity.
San Antonio's has become my go-to spot not just for its mouthwatering meats, home made tortillas, and delicious burritos but also for the comfortable seating, genuine hospitality, and the little touches that make each visit memorable. If you appreciate authentic flavors and a welcoming atmosphere, this is...
Read moreOh LORDY, this is so much more than a butcher shop!!! First of all, it a tortilleria, it is a small restaurant, a hot deli, a small grocery store, a place to send money to your family back home, and seriously it might just be a place to meet a man!
I am old and waaay married, but when I walked in at lunch, the tables were packed with men of all ages and from all walks of life. You know you are in a legit Mexican dive when tech guys are sitting next to construction, sitting next to businessmen, sitting next maintenance guys. Girls, if you're single, get on down there!!
But before you leave...pick up some of the small, fat flour tortillas, a package or two of the big flour tortillas and I promise you, you will never buy them anywhere else in KC. You can eat your tacos there or, you can walk over to the deli part and take a pound or two of their hot meats, home. All the ladies are completely bilingual and for the most part, friendly and helpful. In the back is the old school butcher shop where the butchers were yelling in Spanish at the customers "Hey cousin, what can I get for you?" It was like being back home in SoCal and I wanted to cry.
Don't be afraid to pick up some of the preseasoned chicken, pork or beef and grilling it at home. Once you do that, again, you may never serve any other seasoned meat at your bbq. Make sure you pick up a couple of pints of their awesome salsa, some cilantro and onions and...
Read moreI would give them lower than a 1! I got served burnt chicken taco's. I asked for 1 beef and 1 steak with pineapples. How they gave me 4 chicken taco's instead I don't understand. A different lady came over to make sure my order was proper, bc the cashier couldn't understand English... I ate 1 Taco and picked out the burnt, ask for a Refund, was denied, I had to call 911. This owner is a clown! He cares more about 18.$ instead of making peace. Wat happened to customer is always right. He has no Empathy, common courtesy nor Respect when it comes to treating people right. They serving food with no gloves, when he seen me videoing he start hollering at the Employees, I'm assuming he was telling them in Spanish to put on gloves, which were never used, all day. They started sweeping 🧹 n everything when I went live!!! This owner stated, since I ate 1. I couldn't get a refund. Then he stated since I added toppings, onion's, sauce,etc...I couldn't get a refund. He then said " had u not added all that stuff, I would've refunded u. Now u gotta deal with it. It's not my problem 😭. Horrible customer service. No 1 works their of any other ethnicity. I do believe he is prejudice!! Try it at your own risk, the people who eats here, don't have a choice, and most likely knows the family or grew up with some of 1 of the employees, maybe it's just the nearest place to...
