We were at Ameristar to see a concert, and planned to pick one of the restaurants for dinner before hand. We had seen ads and signs for the buffet at around $20, so when we came upon it we went on in. I was stunned when the bill came to $90+ for the two of us, but rather than try to reverse the charge we went on in. OK -- my fault for not catching their little bait-and-switch...
Now on to the food -- and this is about the food, not the price. Absolutely horrible! It was crab leg night and they were so soft you couldn't crack the shells, just kinda bend them back and forth until they broke. Which of course destroyed the meat inside. There were no small forks available, so you had to dig the meat out with a regular fork. It was a complete waste. Oh well, plenty of other options right? The Chinese food was disgusting, the bar-b-que was terrible and dry, the Italian was dried out pizza and some other stuff I didn't even want to bother to try, and shrimp were way overcooked. The creme brulee was the only thing we found in the whole buffet that was actually good. I don't expect top-notch food on a buffet, but if you're charging that much, you need to deliver. We had been to this place one time for crab legs 39.99 and we were not impressed. So on New Years Eve we decided to go to the casino there. I called ahead to make sure it would be 19.99 for the buffet. There recording gave the prices and only listed special prices for Christmas day. When we got there it was 42.99 after we waited in a long line. I explained that thier message did not list special pricing. Was treated like to bad. Finally after talking to several workers they decided to give us a 60.00 buffet coupon for the next time. So I look at it when I get home. It has to be used in 30 days. Not happy at all. One I dont go out to casino that often. Second it was a treat for New Years Eve. Totally disappointed with the buffet and there customer service. After all this we discover almost every one there is getting the buffet free with thier coupons I understand that they spend money there. However not good service to bring new people to your casino BUFFET IS AVERAGE AT BEST. CUSTOMER...
