Becky's — Restaurant in Karnes City

Had the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and a salad. It was very good. Salad could have used a little work. Only shredded lettuce and a few diced tomatoes, nothing else, oh and a couple packs of crackers. Food was good though. They should upgrade their knives though. They were the kind like you'd buy at Walmart for 10 for a dollar. Can't believe I've lived and worked in and around Karnes City for 8 years and just seen the place the other day. I like to try and eat at mom and pop style restaurants rather than the franchises. That's how you find those special little gem of restaurants. This one has potential, just needs a little work. Seemed everyone dining knew each other, which is what I like, however, seemed like a bit of underlying attitude in the air, maybe because they felt like I was an out of towner oil worker. Biggest issue is they need a sign on the door saying cash only. Had lunch and went to pay only to find out it's cash only. Would have been nice to know before hand. The food was ok. They don't have sweet Tea. Can drinks. They don't except Card. CASH Only. They I paid with a $10 bill, they asked if I had smaller bills..? REALLY? I didn't. It took 3 mins for me to get change because they didn't have enough in the Register...? Weird but the good thing is It's my choice to not return...
