I like to try new places. Mom’s diner sounded interesting. Kind of hid away; but found easily with GPS. My initial reaction was the restaurant was really great inside. Liked the environment and decoration. The service was very good. The menu had enough items, and I liked that they serve breakfast all day. The prices were fair for a restaurant. The food was very good, and served pretty quickly. The problems came when it was time to pay. The waitress told me the regular system was down so they used a portable device at the table. Ran my card and it showed an error. The waitress grabbed another device, and the charge went through. The next day I showed two pending changes. I figured one would drop off. A few days later both charges went through. I did not worry too much the extra charge was only $25, and I figured I could go in and get it fixed. Went in again to eat and mentioned to the waitress that I had a duplicate charge ready to show on my phone the two charges so it could be corrected. She went to talk to the manager-owner. She came back and uncomfortably told me they said to dispute the charges. I did not understand why they would not resolve it right away, and why would they want to have credit card disputes show on their accounts. But we were there to eat so I figured i could take care of it later. I paid more attention of course to the second bill and noticed the charged amount did not match the menu amount. Apparently they add on a credit card charged to the order. They have a credit card price, and a lower cash price on the bill. As I thought about the whole thing I am upset the manager-owner did not show respect in handling the duplicate charge. Too me it is cowardice to send a young waitress to deal with customer complaints. It makes me feel they do not care about my business. This is a great place to eat! The environment and food is great! But, there are many great places to eat! Why go where they don’t try to keep...
Read moreI visited here for the first time today with my family. The atmosphere was fantastic. We loved the homie vibe. The service was impeccable. Our waiter was incredible and definitely worth a gratuity. However the food needs a few improvements. I had the New York Steak breakfasts. The eggs, sourdough, and hash browns were great. However, the steak wasn’t good at all. I haven’t used A1 in a number of years and it was the only way the steak was palatable. It was either a problem with the steak itself or what it was cooked in. The steak was cooked to the right texture but the flavor was terrible. It tasted like it had either been freezer burned or the oil it was cooked in was rancid. My sister had ordered the triple dealer BLT with Tatter-tots. The sandwich was given a 5 star review. But the tatter-tots also tasted off. Leaving me to believe the oil is either bad, not been filtered in some time or the oil filter has not been attended to. My Brother ordered the Dads breakfast which had no complaints. My father had the Greek omelet, which also received a 5 star review. But his sourdough toast had a foreign hair stuck to it with butter.
Over all, this is a decent diner. It has some incredible potential to rival others, such as penny Anne’s. But these issues need to be resolved. I hope the next time I return the issues have been fixed and I can give a much...
