Just left Old Time Pizza in Kearny. Great pizza, friendly service, fun atmosphere. The place was busy with dine in and take out orders so the wait time was a little extended but we did not mind. We took a stroll to check out some of the local businesses.

When we arrived our pizza was ready. The pizza had fresh toppings and good quality cheese. We were given red chili flakes and Parmesan cheese which is a usual accompanyments at most pizza places but here they also provide a bottle of ranch dressing!!! Most places you will have to pay $1.00 or more for a small cup of ranch.

When we were heading out I got a chance to thank the staff for the food and service. Shane shared a brief history of Old Time Pizza and I was able to share a story with him about the time I was the Galaga champion of Kearny about 25 years ago.

While hiking the AZT I had no idea I would stumble upon a town (and specifically a business) that would bless me with the amount of kindness I received from Gary and the crew at old time pizza! I was trying to hitch into town from the trailhead and the owner of this restaurant picked me up, introduced me to his employees, and offered to give me a ride back to the trailhead the following morning. It is a welcoming spirit like this one that keeps the magic of the AZT alive and beautiful! The pizza was AMAZING (hiker hunger took control - I ate 4 slices) and the beer was cold!
