I had a really great experience at Log Cabin Cafe, a cozy county-style restaurant that knows how to serve up a delicious breakfast. This place had all the classic dishes you'd expect, but what really set it apart was the unexpected variety of side options they offered. As someone who likes to keep things on the lower-carb side, I was thrilled to find fresh fruit choices like strawberries, as well as sweet potatoes, tomatoes, and other veggies to choose from. It was a refreshing change from the usual biscuits, hash browns, and pancakes.
When my friends and I walked into Log Cabin Cafe, it was packed! But that didn't stop the staff from making us feel welcome and taking great care of us. They were quick to make sure we had everything we needed and consistently checked on us throughout our meal.
I opted for their veggie omelet with cheese, but I couldn't resist adding bacon to it because, well, bacon makes everything better! Instead of the usual biscuit and hash browns, I went with tomatoes and sweet potato fries. And let me tell you, it was a winning combination. Honestly the tomatoes were fresh and added a good amount of flavor. The omelet was loaded with fresh and perfectly cooked vegetables (peppers, onions, jalapenos, etc.) and the addition of the crispy bacon took it to another level. The juicy tomatoes added a nice tang, and the sweet potato fries were a delightful alternative to the traditional sides.
What really impressed me about Log Cabin Cafe was their commitment to using fresh ingredients. You could actually taste the difference, like making it at home. The food was not only delicious but also served hot. It was obvious that they put a lot of care into preparing each dish, and it made a world of difference.
Now to talk about the price. If you’ve read any of my other reviews, you’ve come to learn I am all about getting my money’s worth. I am cautious with what I spend, but that doesn’t mean I am willing to settle for subpar food- I know what good food is worth! I was pleasantly surprised at how reasonable our bill was. With tax, our bill for four people came out to around $54.00. We all made minor changes to the meal as it appeared on the menu and they didn’t upcharge for every detail. It was a good deal considering the quality of the food and the portions we received. I left feeling completely satisfied, as did my friends.
If you're looking for a breakfast spot that goes beyond the usual and offers something a little different, Log Cabin Cafe is the place to go. The friendly staff, fresh ingredients, and yummy dishes make it a breakfast adventure worth embarking on. I will be back to try other menu items...
Read moreIt's hard to find restaurants like this anymore. Kempner is a very small town, so I'm hoping folks from the more populous areas nearby will read this and frequent this eatery. If anyone deserves to have good business, it's the Log Cabin. I've been there about a dozen times and my experience has been the same each time. They don't seem to have bad days, or inconsistent meals, like many others do these days. Staff is excellent as reviewers have mentioned, but the customers are also very friendly. I literally strike up conversations whenever I'm there and it's like Old Home Week every time. Just moved back to this area and I eat solo these days, so it's really nice to find a place where I'm welcomed like family. I'm a vet and this is a veteran owned and frequented business. Top notch comfort food in a very comforting environment. Breakfast is tricky - it's a lot of food and you will likely eat every last bite, so be prepared to be stuffed! Lunch is every bit as good as breakfast. My Grandfather used to run a Mom & Pop bkft/lunch Diner when I was a kid. Everyone loved it. This place reminds me of those days of quality and kindness in a convivial atmosphere. Everything I want and nothing I don't in a workday meal. Stop...
Read moreMy coworker told me he loved this place and I’ve been meaning to try it but I’m no early riser. Finally got the chance to stop by and it was a great experience. The restaurant is small and the parking is limited, you check in with them if they’re full and they will come grab you from your vehicle when they are ready which I thought was nice and thoughtful instead of making you wait outside.
Staff is super friendly and it’s definitely a local secret. The food was all delicious and high quality for breakfast food plates were $10-$20 roughly and you could expect to spend around $15 per person.
I ordered the Rad plate for breakfast with a waffle and my wife ordered the chicken fried steak. Out of the two the Rad Plate was the absolute show stopper but the chicken fried steak was no slouch either. Everything seems to be from scratch, & totally delicious, the steak was so flavorful and the entire breakfast was very savory. Waffle was fluffy and cooked perfectly. I got a kick out of the fact that they use log cabin brand syrup.
So good, I appreciate keeping things small and serving quality food and service. Definitely...
