Hey tourists ! Enjoy your visit but skip this place. This is my third time here in 5+ years, gone from bad to worse. No idea how these reviews can be this high. No way - are these reviews accurate. I just went along with friends when invited, always hoping it would be better than the last visit - but never again. Service is worse than ever. Food is so salty. No flavor beyond salt and sugar. ++ Couldn't get silverware until our meals were lukewarm. They threw napkins on the table, Food was loaded with sodium, not flavor. They use wine in over priced fake margaritas... No sugar for unsweetened iced tea. Stupid expensive for canned frozen mediocre food. ++ Mexican food usually has onions and peppers. There was one pepper and 2 small onion strings within the entire plate of whatever it was. Tasted like salt. Nothing like Mexican food. A half step above Taco Bell at 5 times the price. Very bad classless service. Not worth the $25-30 per plate. There's a reason I don't eat out in Alaska after years. Prefere home cooked yet if you need to grab something on the road? Much better take out and prepared food at grocery stores. They have tables and chairs to sit. And you don't spend the entire time trying to get a waitress, silverware, drinking nasty unsweetened iced tea, waiting for the knife that never showed up. ++ We were going to have dessert, since they serve junk food - yet got tired of the waitress games, so we left. It was after the height of dinner hour. We saw them chatting. Ask for something and MAYBE they come back. ++ They lost another $30 or more because they wouldn't wait on us. Waste of time and money.

Be warned, Alaska female waitresses don't treat other females well in Alaska.

The female in our party was politely asking and got totally ignored. We males had to ask waitresses to get their attention. We got straws she didn't. When we asked for ice water, The waitresses brought ice water to only males. Female didn't get any

There was another woman at a table we noticed was getting no attention, she couldn't get any waitress. So a male at our table called a waitress over for her and what do you know - the waitress came over!

But that's typical in alaska. Petty insecure females.

++ It's not "Mexican food" anyway. You're in Alaska for goodness sake. It's frozen sodium and sugar served by bad waitresses bringing you ...

I typically stay clear of Mexican food. So this is a high review coming from me.

Atmosphere: draped in rich warm colors made us feel like we were walking into an uptown Hispanic joint in Mexico. They had artwork and decorations at every booth. The blow up beer bottles hanging from the industrial drop ceiling seemed to interfere with the vibe though. Restrooms were clean and well maintained.

Service: we were treated and seated quickly. She kept calling us by Spanish titles and was really friendly. She certainly helped us feel like we were dining in a warmer climate. We agreed that it was the server that elevated this restaurant for our experience.

Food: They had a fresh salsa bar that seemed well stalked and clean. Chips were served immediately. We have spent lots of time in southern California and couldn't avoid eating plenty of Spanish food. This makes us rather picky. In comparison to our past experiences, Los Compadres stayed in the running. In the future I hope they up their carne asada fries game. It was good, just needed more sauces and cheese mixed...

I had high hopes for this place since before with the last name Acapulco the restaurant was amazing and staff treated me so well. Food now... isn't the best. I've eaten here 3 times trying to give it a chance and maybe the cook was just having an off day. The waitress i've had i've had the following problems with she put in the wrong order, never check up on us after giving us our food, put in an appetizer instead of the lunch meal. Sure they are friendly but they don't go above or beyond like the last gals did. THe way the restaurant is set up now also looks cheap and cheesy.. you can see where the booths should be connected to the wall. It looks very messy and cluttered with the booths out like they are. I will say Acapulco and their crew really put up some high expectations that this place just isn't making the cut. If the food was great I would come back and deal with how sloppy it is and the staff.. but it's not so I won't be coming back here...

I am recovering from type 2 diabetes as a result of thyroid cancer and my blood sugar is still out of whack, this is moi importante as I had a crash while grocery shopping and stopped in. I immediately noticed the atmosphere is nice and it is both clean and calming in the restaurant. The staff were welcoming and very attentive when I explained I was having a crash and immediately served me an iced tea and food. I happen to adore trying authentic dishes which highlight the culture of Mexican and South American cuisine, and the lingua tacos are something I was familiar with and knew I would like, and I also enjoyed the tripe and bean soup (Menudo Rojo.) The meat in both dishes were fresh and very tender, and did not need much seasoning as it was done perfectly- the soup is easily in my top favorite dishes now! And their salsas were very good and definitely home-made. The spicy and smoky salsa was my favorite, and the team here definitely deserves praise. 😁💗

Not your typical hole-in-the-wall restaurant. It hides in a small strip mall, but the food is purely authentic Mexican. I had a California asada burrito such as I've not had since living 15 miles from the border, made to perfection (and it was huge!). My wife had a Chipotle chicken enchilada and she was loving every bite. The service was exceptional: friendly and oh so prompt. We have found our new favorite! We'll be back again and hopefully soon. BTW, their mango wine margaritas are to die for.
