Ordered a burrito dinner and an enchilada dinner to go. After driving 20 minutes home with the food I was sadly disappointed. The burrito was inedible due to the amount of spice. It was HOT (and our family loves spicy food!) and with the enchilada dinner the sauce was so salty that it made the enchiladas themselves inedible. The only thing we were able to eat were the rice and beans which were very good!

Side note: It says on the menu that the enchilada dinner comes with a side salad. It does not. It comes with lettuce and tomato on top of it - (no dressing.)

I called back after discovering the issues with the food and asked to speak to a manager. I spoke to a very nice gentlemen who I believed was the owner (not sure) and he was amazing! He offered a refund or to have his driver come all the way to my house with new food. I declined as I had already went to a different Mexican restaurant and picked up more food, but immensely appreciated his kindness. This place definitely has a manager who is great and personable, maybe a different chef and clearer menu would help this new...

First time trying this place and I'm very disappointed. First of all the service sucked so bad, i was angry by the time I left. The waitress we super young and unexperienced. My food arrived and I sat there waiting for the utensils. My skirt steak was not skirt steak. No tortillas were given to me even after she asked me what kind I wanted. I ate my food, my son ate his food and the girl came back to ask my girlfriend what kind of meat was in her burrito. I requested a togo order, while we ate. We had to stay longer to wait for my girlfriend to eat her food that she didn't really enjoy. I asked the girl for my bill, after 15 minutes I asked my girlfriend to pay, since the bill never came. I was to bothered and didn't want to say something rude. Our Togo order had been sitting on the counter for a while as well.

Worst service, they are very unorganized, and need to have an adult manage it.

The food was not worth coming back. I had been wanting to try this food since I heard good things about it. Not worth it for me. I'm sticking with Cancun Cafe they have better food and...

Update: Summer 2022: We continue to go here at least 1x a week for dinner (usually 3-4x per month). We have not been let down once. Queso Birria tacos, Birria ramen, steak tacos, shredded beef burritos, nachos, etc. have been accurate, hot, fresh, and extremely tasty! Never came here for taco Tuesday/Thursdays. We usually go Mondays, Thursday, Friday, and Saturdays to pick up dinner. Love it. We hope to use them again (catering) for our next party. Our family loved the food the first time we used them for catering!

Original Review: Great go to for Mexican food any day of the week! Great portions and nicely sized tacos, burritos, tostadas, nachos. Don’t get me started on the queso barria tacos! You get 3 HUgE queso burria tacos plus consommé. Their catering was insanely great! Huge trays and great price. We had food for the entire neighborhood! Fresh, friendly faces and prices makes Cocina Madre a legit local contender for food any given day of the week! Just wish they were set up w Uber Food,...

Overall pretty good food. I had an Al pastor burrito, no lettuce, add cilantro. It was not a huge, nor small burrito, and maybe a little more expensive than the equivalent restaurants in the area. But, I was satisfied after also eating a tamal. The the tamal was good, but certainly had potential to be better. The masa was nice and moist, and the filling flavorful. The drawback was simply the masa to filling ratio. My wife had the chicken nachos, which she called a bit bland. She agreed she would at least try the steak next time, in hopes it had some more flavor. Total bill for the 3 items was right about $22 with tax.

I thought i would try this place again after a year. I was sadly mistaken again. I ordered the chilli releno and the cheese inside was a nasty cheap pasty queso junk with no flavor ...completely disgusting. Rice was overcooked ...and they forgot the tortias. The price on the menu was different than the actual charge. They charged me like 5 dollars more because they are to lazy to update things. Pork gordita was terrible the pork smelled like an old barn. Churros were super small flavorless and hard as concrete. DO NOT GET ANYTHING HERE!!! alot of people like this crap food ...so its perfect for yorkville!!!

First, I should point out that I grew up in Texas not far from the border. This is the most authentic Mexican food I have come across outside of that area! It wasn't quite as salty as I am used to but no complaints on that from me! My husband had the Birria Tacos. My son had chicken, steak, and shrimp tacos. While I had the burrito. All portions were more than expected, and the prices were way more affordable as well! The server was super sweet also. Overall, I can't complain about one thing. Food, drinks, service, and atmosphere were all 5 stars to this native Texas girl!!
