Roadhouse RTE 47 — Restaurant in Kendall Township

Let me start off by saying our waiter did his job correctly. Everything was just not worth the time. I asked for a burger from their menu with no cheese. I received a burger with cheese. Not good. The waiter showed me the menu ticket that clearly stated in large, bold print "NO CHEESE". It's not like it was that busy. The establishment was barely at 1/4 capacity, if that. The replacement burger did come quickly in their defense, though in their rush, the burger was dried out from being cooked so damned fast. Come to think of it, I wasn't even asked how I wanted my burger done. I received it well done. Hmmmm. Another strike. I wonder if I would have enjoyed the burger had it been cooked to my liking, had I been asked.

The wife tried the chicken and waffles. The waffles part of this dish were actually good, the rest was straight junk. The chicken pieces were breaded with the same bland breading that was probably bought from Gordon Food Services while nothing was done to it to add some flavor. The chicken was cooked properly but it was tasteless. The cole slaw accompanying my wife's dish appeared as if it was on it's way out, the cabbage had a slight yellow/brown tint to it that gave it the appearance of it being no good. I dared not try it.

All this being said. The waiter checked on us quite a few times, which is fine. I'm sure he was just trying to cover his hindquarter at the kitchen screwing up the burger the first time. If you enjoy flavorless food from a kitchen that clearly needs some inspiration, then this is your place. If not, I'd suggest another...

Thought I'd support a local business during the Stay at Home order. Great experience with curbside pickup and food only took 30 mins on a Friday night. My kids' burgers were really undercooked, so I called. I expected them to immediately offer to cook new burgers to pick up within about 15 mins. I had to ask to get new burgers made. They tell me it will take 30 more mins. I mentioned that I had given them what was equal to an almost 50% tip (because of the hard times for restaurants right now), hoping they'd realize they should offer to get the replacements done faster. I hear the gentleman who I saw at pickup (I assume he's the manager or owner) say they'll try to get them done faster and give me a credit. I get there for the pickup. Didn't have to wait long. The presumed manager/owner brought the food out. No apology for the inconvenience and no offer for that credit I was promised. I wasn't going to take a credit anyway, but he "forgot" to offer it to me after all. The food was really good, but after the customer service experience, our first order there will...

We decided to try this place finally and are mad we didn't do so sooner! The menu is diverse enough to have something for everyone - even the pickiest of the eaters!

We started with the Steak bite App ($15), and it was amazing! So much so that my mom got another as her main course - she couldn't get enough!

She also, with the second order of Steak Bites ($15) got a side salad ($4). This thing was huge compared to other restaurants!

I got the Bang Bang Shrimp ($16 for 10). I was hoping for the old Hooters Buffalo Shrimp. Though it was not the same, they were GREAT! Buffalo sauce combined with Ranch Dressing. The shrimp were fried to perfection. Golden brown, lightly battered .. OH, they were good!

We finished with a slice of Chocolate Cake ($8) To Go, which was eaten as soon as we got home. EXCELLENT!

Our service was exquisite, and the young lady helping us was professional, attentive and polite. She answered, clearly, and the first time, all of our questions. 7/5 stars!
