Dinner tonight at Mabel's in Kennebunkport Maine: Lobster Stuffed Mushrooms Clam Chowder 1.5 lb Steamed Lobster Steamer Clams Rice Corn Everything was amazing. The real stars of this meal were the Chowder and the Stuffed Mushrooms. The Chowder was perfect because they didn't complicate it, they create a beautiful chowder that compliments the clams rather than distracts from them. Simplicity is important in creating the perfect chowder. The lobster stuffed mushrooms are pure magic, here is where the complexity comes in with this beautiful wine sauce, and even with the complex sauce and stringy cheese, the lobster is not drowned out, it is beautiful and on the forefront if what you taste. This might be a perfect dish, if you come to Maine you have to try these. And honestly even though my corn was a bit sad looking, it still tasted amazing. Also I had the best server on earth tonight, and he spoke multiple languages fluently, which was so beautiful when he was speaking to the table next to me in their native language, honestly it made me so happy, and definitely enhanced their experience. So dinner tonight was pure magic, an experience I will charush for the rest if my life. If you are ever in Kennebunkport ME, you must make reservations for Mabel's!!!! Definitely a must do thing in Maine!

Kennebunkport wasn't on our route but we went out on our way for this place because of the high reviews. Not sure if I would again. Certainly live up to the latter part of their name, " Lobster Claw " any dish with lobster is strictly all claw. Got seated right away friendly staff. Ordered a clam chowder to start. For the main entrees ordered lobster mac and cheese and the hot buttered Lobster roll. Clam chowder was very good but it didn't really stand out for me in comparison to the other chowders I've had at other restaurants in Maine. Could have been a bit hotter and a few more clams. GF had the lobster roll and it too, didn't stand out in her mind. Definitely appreciated the toasted roll so it doesn't get soggy. Interestingly enough, the fries were probably the best part. Nice flavor and crispy and came with some really good tartar sauce to dip it in. I had the lobster mac and cheese. I didn't think that macaroni and cheese had enough savory bite to it. I wonder if they used medium vs. sharp cheddar. Should be sharp with lobster. Now, I know the claw supposed to be the best part of the lobster. But when it comes to these dishes the fact that they're not cut into pieces takes away from the experience. Sure, if you're eating a whole lobster it's great to dip in butter but not when you have something like a lobster roll or mac and cheese. You want pieces to be all coated with the savory goodness not huge chunks. I suggest Mabel's reach out to Al's Seafood and see how they do it. Although very good I don't know if I would go out of my way again to Mabels. Perhaps if I was staying in Kennebunkport- maybe. Plus it's kind of pricey for what you get. $75 for lunch! Wow...

Sure it's got a history in Kennebunkport and all that, but I think this is mostly hype! Mabel's is nothing to rave about, really! I've had better seafood elsewhere. The food was good, service was standard, view and ambiance (for outside seating) during lunch, was unappealing. During my visit, they were making road repairs, so it was a bit of a disturbance, with all the dust and repair vehicles. The price should be more $$$ to $$$$ but expected for good seafood. That said, my first choice couldn't be made because they supposedly didn't have the batter ready. So I went with my second. The lobster was good, large whole chunks that looked great in pictures and tasted very fresh! So glad I didn't have to crack and pull the meat out myself. The clam chowder that they boast about was a bit too watery for my likes. A thicker, less potato-based chowder is preferred. Our server was a little bit disconnected, borderline not interested in any bit of dialog or salutation. Some may call this behavior a bit snobbish, but maybe it is the neighborhood, aroma of white sea petals, or mostly non-diverse clientele that frequent this place. It's like a trip to the lodge at the Hamptons, but without that exclusive membership!

Our entire meal was amazing. Jay our server was fantastic with suggestions around the area and magnificent at explaining the dishes. All our food was delicious and when we left we were filled to just the right amount. Definitely a must if you’re in the area. Thanks for such great service and yummyness 😋. FYI my fav out of the lobsters was the Savannah holy cow the infusion of peppers, with cheeses, mushrooms etc Wow explosion of goodness in every bite, for sure a must. The pie was not what I expected (not flaky or buttery crust nor warm and the blueberries definitely didn’t pop in my mouth) in fact it was a cold pie never had that before but a la mode is definitely the way to go 😬. This was also our first shot at a lobster roll and WOW it was soooo good 🤤. Now having had a few lobster rolls this one has the perfect buttery roll and it tasted fresh however for the price I feel other places give me more lobster for my buck. 4 out 5 because of the pie.

It was a fluke we came to Mabel's, but so glad we did! Another restaurant across the road had the wrong menu on their Open Table, so we walked out and came to Mabel's. The food was so delicious, fresh, and everything you would want from Maine. The service from Jennifer, was top-notch. She was a gem and so personable and gave all the great recommendation. She was also funny and handled customers very professional! I enjoyed the Lobster Cobb, what a bang for your buck, $22 and the same amount of lobster as a sandwich for more $$$. It was so fresh the dressing was amazing, and the lobster by far was the freshest I had while visiting in Maine all week. It had that clean cold ocean taste - cannot describe it any better! My husband had the fish and chips (Haddock) and it was light, crispy and a good buy as well. We sat out on the patio as we were a walk in-no resv. it was a little chilly, but overall - a great experience!!

Attentive service with superb food, the best chowder and lobster that will give me positive lingering memories for years to come. Mabel’s — you’re doing it right!!!!! Edit: I came another night for dinner and it was also outstanding. I had the scampi pasta with shrimp and it was pure delight. The servers are so kind and wonderful, unlike some nasty servers in other restaurants nearby. As a person of color coming from Brooklyn, I also appreciated the diversity of the staff. I wish I can eat here every day.
