**Review: White Barn Inn** My recent stay at the White Barn Inn was excellent. Located conveniently close to town while offering a private and secluded atmosphere, this inn blends old-time charm with modern amenities. Originally a barn, the inn retains its rustic character with fireplaces, cozy sitting rooms, games, and a variety of treats and snacks. **Highlights:** - **Service:** The staff provided unparalleled service, anticipating needs before they were expressed. Every morning, complimentary coffee, tea, juice, and a treat were discreetly delivered to the room in a charming basket at a pre-specified time. - **Room Amenities:** Bottled water was available in-room and on demand, along with daily room treats, a specialty item, and turn down service. - **Ambiance:** The inn's ambiance was enhanced by its historic charm and thoughtful touches throughout the property. **Room for Improvement:** - **Air Conditioning:** The air conditioning system was quite noisy. Updating to a quieter option, such as a mini split system, would enhance comfort. - **Noise Issues:** Indistinguishable noises, possibly from an exhaust fan, disrupted sleep on the second night. Although the staff attempted to resolve the issue and offered compensation, it remained a notable concern. - **Dining Experience:** My experience at the restaurant was less than satisfactory, possibly due to my menu choice. While other guests seemed to enjoy their meals, my dish did not meet expectations. - **Spa Pricing:** The spa services seemed overpriced, though this is typical for a 5 star establishment. Despite these minor drawbacks, the overall experience was lovely, and I would gladly return to the White Barn Inn.

Went here with my boyfriend for a little celebration/vacation. When we arrived prior to checking in we heard a gentleman at the front desk complaining and cutting his stay short which didn’t give us the best first impression. We were able to check in early which was great, the staff was pleasant and very helpful with our bags. We had our welcome drink which was tasty. We stayed in the Junior Suite in the Mays Annex. First impression the room was okay. After noticing the heated floors end where the toilet is, water staining on the ceiling and tiles. It was defiantly not worth the $700 a night we paid to stay here. Especially being in the off season where we spent most of our time in the room. We asked to use the bikes our first two days, it was in the mid fifties the ground was dry. They told us they were unavailable… interesting to pay a resort fee that included this experience and not receive it with such fine weather. Location was great you can walk into town. Overall the premisses didn’t seem like it was kept the way I had expected for the fair. Lastly, the forecast predicted a large nor’easter on our departure day. As a nurse I feared I wouldn’t make it back in the storm to make it in time for my shift(after being told from a friend in the area they got stuck and lost power the following day so we wouldn’t have got home). We had to check out a day before and nothing was offered or compensated to us for losing that last night. I understand it’s a business and they have policies but doesn’t seem like they care about their retention of visitors. Staff was great, pleasant, and helpful during our stay. Just disappointing how things were handled. We won’t be returning, wish I could say differently. Update- Resort reached out and was very pleasant addressing my concerns from above. I am content with the resolution we were able to reach. Will give another shot in season!

This is my absolute favorite spot in southern Maine for a relaxing date night or a special occasion meal. Every time we have gone the service is on point with what you would expect of a Relais & Châteaux. From the moment you check in with the maitre d' to the service of bread and wine to your exit to your car (valet-led umbrellas in the rain)--the staff is attentive, polite, and knowledgable. The venue itself has a casual, elegant feel being in a barn-like setting. We prefer to be seated in the side dining room that overlooks the glassed-in garden lush with greenery and beautiful blooms, it is very serene and slightly more intimate than the main dining room/bar area. The prix fixe menu is always fresh and aligned to the seasons with a uniquely delicate and uncomplicated presentation. Make sure that you save room (and order ahead) for the airy souffle(s)--you will not be disappointed! We have only heard wonderful things about the accommodations and spa, but have yet to stay as we have a home in the surrounding area.

Everything about our stay at the White Barn Inn was top notch but I’d say the service is what stood out the most. Every single person from the valet, to the front desk, to housekeeping was so friendly and helpful. They took collective responsibility for a great guest experience regardless of their job, great team work. It’s clear they take pride in their work and enjoy what they do. The day we were leaving we asked for help with our bags and the host from the restaurant jumped right in to do it so we didn’t have to wait. Definitely not his job but you would have never guessed it. The woman at the front desk saved us chocolate chip cookies because she knew we missed them the day before and wanted to try them. Those are just a few examples of the small things that make a big difference. The property is beautiful and well maintained and the smaller size makes it feel so cozy. All the food on site was outstanding. We enjoyed breakfast, lunch by the pool, and a truly exceptional dinner at the restaurant.
