Service the way you would want it from everywhere. My entire family was together to see my son perform at Rivertown Theater and we stopped in after lunch for a few pre-game drinks. Our bartender was perfect! Engaging and friendly, quick with a joke "or a light of your smoke" if Mr. Joel was was telling the story. Seriously, a master bartender. Drinks were quality and he and the Barback were a dynamic duo of cool and fun; and were actively part of our afternoon on the town. Yet, i feel like because they were able to read their patrons so well they would have given us our distance if we wanted it; but we didn't and they were right there with us as we were chatting it up. But for "the rest of the story" as my good fiend Mr. Harvey once said keep reading. Well we continued to enjoy ourselves, have drinks and get ready for the the show. Soon it was time to pay the bill and leave. Everything was in order, no surprises and in fact a very reasonable bill. I tipped my friends behind the bar proportionally to the experience we had and we said our goodbyes with promises of me and my better half to stop by soon for a meal and drinks next time. All is good, we scanned our tickets to get into the show, but i figured i wasn't driving, why not buy a "show drink" for me and my wife and let my daughter, home from college, pay us back for years of responsible parenting and do the driving this time. As i am in line and searching for my credit card i hear a mans voice say, "that's the guy im looking for." Now normally that phrase can either evoke panic, curiosity, or excitement depending upon the situation; i was in the curious camp. I turned around to see my bartender from Debbie, who had left the levee, not in his Chevy! He had rode his long board ( i think that's what the young folks call it, thank you google) from the restaurant to return my credit card to me. Now lets actually think about this act of kindness for a second. It is more than just "hey Mister, you forgot you card" type situation. He engaged with us enough and cared enough to remember what our next event of the evening was and then long boarded himself over to the theater with only the hopes that the could locate me in the crowd. I would give his odds at finding me to be less than 10%; but he did it anyway. Heck, he may have intended to wait until intermission and made an announcement; no telling his resolve. Our daily actions have consequences that we may never see the effects of. These purposely placed pebbles of deliberate actions have ripples that extend outward and those concentric rings become larger from that Genesis stone, effecting more and more people. I can tell you after i got my card back, and after my initial feelings of relief then gratitude i enjoyed myself the rest of the night, even more so, knowing i was thought about enough that someone who didnt know me cared enough to treat me like he did know me. So, my bartender friend i thank you from the bottom of my heart! I thank whoever in your life has instilled in you the importance of doing "that thing" whatever it is that makes you feel like its the right thing. Lastly, i thank the management of Debbie on Levee to see in this young man the qualities that make him so special. I will be back to your establishment and i will do my very best to repay this act of kindness by telling everyone i know to stop by and hopefully meet my...
Read moreFood was just ok not worth the price. At least what we ordered (they were out of biscuits). Cutlery and coffee mugs were nasty (lipstick, greasy spots, etc). Christmas music was BLARING and when politely requested to turn the music down by my wife in order to hear my 83yr old grandmother speak, the blonde heavy nose ring woman responded rudely with a “well i have a question for you first, is it because its too loud or because you dont like the music? Because ill only turn it down if its because its too loud” So my wife politely explained its the volume. I was about ready to flip out. What if it was a hindu or jewish person, or someone who does kwanza or whatever, they dont want to listen to your garbage christmas Spotify list at 175 decibels bethany or mildrid or whatever her name was! The bearded man (cook i believe) was the only one with any sense and consideration it seems and saved this review from being 1 star. He was the only one to think about refilling coffees and waters. Oh and they automatically include 15% or gratuity (which should tell you about the forgetful, nonexistent, rude service youll recieve) Not interested in returning as its currently being ran. Side note i saw people leave annoyed after a few minutes of us being seated. I wonder if theres a connection to the blonde heavy...
Read moreWhat a wonderful little gem in the middle of Kenner on the outskirts of New Orleans. We have now been here several times and just love the food here. The establishment is clean and comfortable. The staff is just great. It really makes the difference in the dining experience. They have great drinks, good coffee and the food portions are always large. We always have a box of food to take home with us. The muffins are also really good. Love the banana nut muffins.
Keep in mind that EVERYTHING is cooked to order so during peak times there can be a long wait for food to come out. If you are in a hurry call ahead to see what the wait times might be just to be sure but I can tell you we've waited at times and the food is worth it. Just have a drink and enjoy your company.
So a shout out to Chuck and his team for bringing this gem of a place to Kenner. We will be back again and again.
Oh and to note they DO NOT add an automatic tip to any check.
Stop in and tell em...
