The food is pretty great, but it isn't reflected in the stars. My rating is simply based on the service. If I could give negative stars, I would. My family members and I have been loyal customers for many years. Sure, the service in the past hasn't always been that great, but the food has made up for it. Lately, though, the food hasn't been able to overcome the terrible service and the uncomfortable atmosphere. Tonight was the last straw and probably my last trip to Young’s. A new waitress (I believe her name is Britney) has been working there for the last several months. Every time we have been in there lately, she has been working, and on every one of those occasions, she has started screaming at one or more of the other employees. She is disrespectful and rude. She talks down to the other employees. Young's is usually a seat yourself joint and there never seems to be assigned sections for the wait staff. At one point, when she seated another couple that had walked into the restaurant, she told them not to let anyone else take their order or serve them. Then, she tried to take a table away from another waitress who had already greeted the customers and started taking their order. The diners at that table had to tell her multiple times that they didn't want her to serve them. Also, she isn't a very good waitress. Quite frankly, I cannot understand why Julie, the owner, hasn't let her go. Tonight, for example, we had to tell her 3 times what we wanted to drink and she still brought the wrong thing. We asked for Coke and she brought diet coke that was for another table. Then she brought us tea. When we were done eating, we had to ask for a to-go box and our check 4 times. It took almost 15 minutes for her to finally bring us the bill. After delivering the check to our table, she started yelling at one of the other waitresses because one of her tables hadn't gotten the soup that they ordered. I'm still not sure why it was the other waitress's fault that one of Britney's tables hadn't been served. While she was yelling at the other waitress, she took my card to the register to run the transaction. She was still berating the other waitress the whole time, yelling at her across the crowded restaurant. Britney walked away from the register in the middle of closing out our tab to go yell at the other waitress who had walked towards the kitchen. This was not the first time she has treated a co-worker this way, and I’m sure it won’t be the last. I spoke up and told her that she shouldn’t treat other people that way, but it didn’t seem to have any effect on her. Read moreThe service here is horrible. The supervisor "Tu" does whatever she wants and allows her employees to do whatever they want. My grandmother walked into this establishment and ordered orange chicken with a plate of lo mein. They explained the orange chicken is not on the lunch plate menu. It comes by itself. So she asked for a sesame chicken lunch plate then. They decide to give her a lemon chicken plate and also decide to make my grandmother pay for all three things not just the two she ordered but their mistake as well. I called to speak to supervisor about this and she was very rude and hung up in my face not once but twice. Out of respect for my grandma I did not get back ugly with her. As my grandmother comes here a lot for business and says herself that they are rude. The environment is a lot of tension with phones ringing off of the hook. We are from Laplace and she only likes this specific take out compared to all of the places in Laplace. This review does not even deserve one star considering their service is horrible. The supervisor is horrible. I don't care how good their food is they should've not done just what they wanted. I know this bc when I FaceTimed my grandma to tell the lady I clearly said sesame chicken and she was trying to show me a picture of some chicken asking "this chicken?"… no not that chicken the chicken I’m ordering which is sesame chicken. Then after I got off the FaceTime they still brought her the wrong chicken again. My grandma asked me not to call as they would change it to the actual sesame chicken. Smh. Highly disappointed...
Read moreI don't know where this place went wrong recently, but I ordered a large order of fried rice, steamed dumplings, and this thing called a crab roll, which is tempura battered and fried imitation crab. Firstly, the way the food was packaged was terrible. Most places have special containers for some items, like circular aluminum containers for smaller items, but my dumplings were put in a regular styro-foam container with the sauces in the smaller compartments, which is hideous. If I would've made a sharp turn or if my bag would've tipped over, boom, SAUCE EVERYWHERE ON EVERYTHING!
The crab rolls were ok, nothing to rave about. The worst of it all was the fried rice. I don't remember the rice being this bland and flavorless. The fried rice was literally cooked in ONLY sesame oil! There was no soy sauce or dark soy sauce this was cooked in, JUST SESAME OIL.
I don't know if someone was just having a bad day in the kitchen, but they should be embarrassed. I had to doctor up my own fried rice I ordered at home with dark soy sauce on the stove and regular soy sauce. The convenience of ordering ready to made food was taken from me at that point, and I should've gone back for a refund, but I was way too tired to do so.
