Cardinali's Bakery — Restaurant in Kenosha

This used to be the BEST Italian bread around. I don't understand what happened since it was sold. I was upset they were closing but then happy they sold it including recipes to an employee. But since then this is the WORST Italian bread I have ever had! How can it be so bad when they were given the recipe???? Now it doesn't even rise and there is no crust on it like Italian bread is supposed to have. How this place stays open is beyond me. The photo on the left as you can see is bad!! A few years ago, I found a sign on Cardinali's door thanking everyone for 99 YEARS of business, but that they were closing. I cried my eyes out, and went home to Illinois. Today, after a long time, I was in Kenosha again, and CARDINALI'S IS OPEN! And has been for several years now, since an employee bought it, recipes and all!! Not a "bad" experience by any means at all. The doughnuts that I did purchase were Wonderful (even for being "day old doughnuts". But my first thought when entering was 'this is all they have??! How have they stayed open for so long??' 🧐 10am on a Thursday & all they had were MAYBE 2 dozen day old donuts, loafs of bread, pizza/bread dough (which I've read/heard are delicious) and pizza sauce.
