So excited Tacos Land is finally open! My brother and I tried them for lunch on Saturday and breakfast on Sunday in order to give a full review, YUM 😋
Lunch: Mullitas (Asada) very good all around, portion size was great, amount of meat and cheese was perfect, and seasoning was fantastic, my only complaint would be I wish it was crispier as I've had fantastic Mullitas at a food truck in Seattle that I compare everyone to; Street Tacos (Veggie, Shrimp, & Adobaba) these were what everyone expected, portions were perfect, filling was appropriate for each variety, seasonings were good, only content given was the Adobaba although clearly seasoned could have been seasoned longer as it didn't seem to penetrate the meat and fully flavor it through; BriTacos (Beef) great crunchy taco, fully filled, great flavors; Beans & Rice absolutely the best bite of food I've had in a while! So much flavor in such a simple dish but OMG will it be a repeat order!
Breakfast: Jumbo BF Burrito (Chorizo & Bacon, Asada & Bacon) these burritos are absolutely amazing! They are filled to the maxed with your choice of proteins and made to order; Chilaquiles Plate eggs were nice and fluffy, sauce was tasty but not spicy, and the best beans you'll ever experience!; Mexican Omelette (Asada) big portion size, lots of flavorful asada, the only complaint would be the hash browns could have been cooked longer for a nice crisp on them; Tamales (Chicken & Pork) these were great, they had lots of flavor and were moist, the pork won over the chicken but that's not to say the chicken wasn't good, we really liked that they had bits of potato in them.
Overall review, we will absolutely be coming back to Tacos Land! The food was wonderful and made to order, the family who is running the restaurant is very friendly, we love the open concept kitchen so you can see your food being made, you have the option to dine in or take out. I can't wait to see if their menu expands as they gain business and experience, and I have to say you get a real feel of family when you are there. If you like Mexican food give them a try, they are absolutely worth...
Read moreI want to really love this place but it’s not quite there for me.
We have ordered take out here 3 times.
First time was great, 5 stars, asada tacos, beans, rice were all excellent.
The second time the tacos were meh (tasted like meat was dry and had been sitting all day) but beans and rice were great! The kids meal was a bit greasy, between the ground beef and the cheese the tortilla ended up being saturated with oil and turning orange.
The third time, tacos were ok, too much onion but that’s easily pulled off, meat was dry but flavorful. Beans were super salty and spicy. Rice is definitely not fresh. The ends of each grain were hard and dried out and the rice didn’t stick together like fresh rice does.
My biggest issue is the lack of consistency. We never know what we are going to get. While the food is enjoyable and hasn’t been bad per se. I wish it was a bit more consistent. We are hoping for the same food we got the first time we visited but it’s not quite there. I suspect sometimes we are getting the leftovers from the day before, which isn’t uncommon for a restaurant. But with the simple dishes like tacos or when the item stands on its own it’s more noticeable than if it had been thrown into a burrito or mixed into a different dish.
We will keep trying and branch out to other dishes. I like the small family owned atmosphere. It’s the same guy in the kitchen every time we visit and I do want to see this place succeed. It seems like it is someone’s dream and passion to cook the food they love for the community. Prices are reasonable for the portion sizes. It really would take just a few adjustments for this place to be...
Read moreSuper good small and cozy Mexican restaurant. Has a great mix of more traditional Mexican dishes along with more Americanized fare like hard-shell tacos. Have never had a bad experience with them, and over the last year they've just been getting better as far as the food quality goes.
One of my favorite things about Tacosland is that they also do breakfast. Most breakfast dishes are only served on the weekend + Friday, but some of them can be made during the week if you ask. One of my favorite Mexican dishes is chilaquiles, and this place actually offers it any time during the week; generally I have a hard time finding a place that makes chilaquiles in the first place, much less offers it outside of breakfast time.
Staff is always friendly and courteous. They have a few TVs so folks can watch a game if one is on. Haven't tried it yet, but they also have beer on tap from a local Mexican brewer, as well as offering frozen margaritas. All in all a fantastic place to...
