Downtown Lounge and Trattoria — Restaurant in Kentland

We were going to the Newton County Fair, and the fair closed at 10:00 pm.... So we didn't have enough time. So I suggested that we go to the Italian restaurant in Kentland Indiana. We called before we went in to make sure they were still cooking. And they told us to come on in and they would take care of us.

There were 4 of us walking in there door at 10:00 pm. They were so friendly and welcomed us with open arms!

My friends had some cocktails and we ordered something that they didn't have on the menu. Which was Meatball Subs with cheese and Italian beef. It came with F. F., My friends date picked up the check so I'm not sure of the cost.

These subs were amazing! The service was amazing, and the owners are even more amazing! The owners came by the table and talked with us and the waitress also talked with us after eating.

I would most definitely highly recommend this restaurant, it's beautiful on the inside. They have a full bar and a salad bar.

This place use to be the American Legion and then the downtown lounge. Please give this place a try, you will not regret it.

The atmosphere and service are both good. We went during a pretty dead time, so we didn't have any issues with getting our food quickly. The food, however, was the only downfall of this charming establishment. I ordered the pub burger (I know, boring), and my wife ordered chicken alfredo (another boring dish). We got our food, and I noticed a couple of things right off the bat about my meal: 1.) The French fries were just regular frozen crinkle fries. Not a big deal, didn't expect anything elegant. 2.) The burger was TINY. Absolutely no possible way this burger was a 1/2 pound. 3.) The onion that was on the burger was basically a whole slice out of the middle of and onion, almost as much onion as there was burger. Once I started eating, I noticed the burger was very burnt. I like a charred burger, but this was beyond that. My wife's chicken was the same way, which made the whole dish taste burnt. The soup bar was less than desirable. Bread service was mediocre.

I don't want to give 1 star because I know this doesn't happen to everyone. I'm sure there's not many Italian options in Kentland. It's probably a better restaurant to take your kids than a...

My boyfriend and I stopped in on a whim and Scott and Adrian’s “Downtown Lounge & Trattoria” already has us planning our next trip back. The food here is absolutely delicious! Every dish we tried was bursting with flavor and cooked to perfection. The cocktail list was fun and fresh, the Italian Margarita left me wanting more!
