Monical's Pizza of Kentland — Restaurant in Kentland

Ignore false review from Repmek in the reviews, here's the real story from a customer that witnessed the situation.

Stopped with the family on the drive home after a long drive from Chicago to central Indiana to see the eclipse. The place was busy, and after eating we could see why. Excellent tavern pizzas and the bread sticks were worth the wait. I don't know if it was because we we're outside all day but even the salad was fantastic, we even bot a bottle of the red dressing to take home! We also ordered some cheese sticks to start the meal and they came out better than we could have expected.

The only downside was a gentleman that was standing at the front counter waiting for his order, instead of staying seated at his table with his (rather unusual) family. He was impatiently checking his watch and giving rude looks to the employees as though the restaurant wasn't full of people headed home after the eclipse (it took us an extra 90 minutes to fight through traffic). After their food was brought out he loudly complained that he shouldn't have waited for almost an hour, even though he had a large order with a family of 5. They proceeded to eat the entirety of two pizzas, breadsticks, mozzarella sticks, and salad, and then complain that the food was all gone, even after they had eaten everything. This man and his family spent the entire time eating, taking small rat like nibbles of food instead of a normal bite. I don't know if this was so the family would waste time and prevent more people from coming in, but it was disturbing. Half of our time waiting for our food to arrive, I couldn't take my eyes off of his unusual looking wife and his very ugly children. Unfortunately in a desperate bid to not pay for (what I would deem a fantastic dinner option) he made a threat of leaving a poor review, and he did receive on of the pizzas for free as an apology.

Went in on memorial day evening. Ordered our food, which was three pizzas, spaghetti and meatballs and water that cost over $80. The food was ordered at 5:08 and they said it would be 20 to 30 minutes. 30 minutes into it, a girl came out and asked us if we would like something to hold us over but we declined stating that we would just wait on our food. Five minutes later, she came back and said that it would be 15 to 20 minutes. two minutes before we hit the hour, they brought one pizza out, and then the guy asked what else we had as if he couldn’t have looked at our order in the back and known what we had coming. My daughter said spaghetti and he was back with the spaghetti about four minutes later, but no meatballs. then she asked where the meatballs were and he said something stupid like “you didn’t say meatballs”, and I showed him on the receipt so then he said “ That’s not what you told me, do you want to take me to the woodshed and beat me?” As if it were our faults that he didn’t read the order in the back. I mean really if he’s the one doing the cooking and delivering the food, wouldn’t he know what we are supposed to get? But I don’t know what he was supposed to be doing aside of standing around talking with customers for 5 to 10 minutes at a time and I’m pretty sure that someone on the crew quit that night because we overheard him saying out loud that such a person didn’t need to come back and they said that they wouldn’t be back and then we heard a door slam. In my estimation, he’s probably the manager or an assistant manager, and if it were my business, he wouldn’t be working there after tonight. He claimed that there was an employee missing, but I’m pretty sure there were five or six people working in the back. Kentlands Monicals has ALWAYS been my favorite! It has been about a year since we have been to Kentland location due to where we live. Tonight was so disappointing. When we arrived there were NO clean booths. Trash all over the floor. We sat at a dirty table thinking someone would come clean it but nope. She put the food right on top of the nastiness. The bowls had lettuce stuck on them. The ranch and French bottles definitely don't get cleaned. So I got up and went and bought a take home french bottle because i was not eating anything out of them bottles. I also asked if we could please change our pizza to take out and I was told absolutely your pizza only has 1 minute left. 20 minutes later our pizza came for dine in. ( I do believe it was a mix up with a diffrent table and that's no biggie for us it happens!) I am just so sad it has came to this.
