I recently had the opportunity to connect through Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) after more than a decade. During this visit, I opted to experience one of the local culinary offerings, specifically at an airport restaurant known for its chili. Given my layover was over an hour, I decided to sample their five-way chili in the early morning hours.
The dish was exceptionally flavorful and generously portioned with cheese. While a slightly greater amount of onions could have enhanced the experience, overall, the meal exceeded my expectations and was particularly affordably priced compared to options I am accustomed to in Los Angeles.
Interestingly, upon further reflection, I realized that the chili establishment I visited was Gold Star Chili, rather than Skyline Chili, as I had initially thought. Regardless, the quality of the food was impressive, and this unique local cuisine is undoubtedly worth a visit in the future. I plan to explore Gold Star Chili outside of the airport on my next trip.
Furthermore, I would like to commend the customer service, which was particularly commendable given the early hour, and the food preparation was executed flawlessly. This experience reaffirms Cincinnati's reputation for offering...
Read moreI wish I could say great service. Besides our waitress trying to make the best of poor attitudes from other members of staff. Our service was a flop. From moment we walked in you could tell staff did not want us to dine in. (Yes it was 9 pm, store closed at 10pm. Our party was 5 yet only two of us were eating.) From moment we sat down a male was grumbling to our waitress about us under his breath. She told him to stop, Our waitress took our order and brought our drinks. Another female employee made the statement to our waitress. You know they have to be out of here by 9:30 right. Our waitress told her only two of were eating. (It's clear we were not meant to hear the conversation) at this time I questioned staff on the comments made being directed towards us? It was like a deer in headlights went off.. crickets with facial expression of omg they heard us. With out any reasonable explanation, I canceled our order we left for the evening. Our waitress was only...
Read moreThis Gold Star closes at 10pm even though this website says 11pm. And when you arrive at 10:55pm they all nudge each other and point at the car that just parked. After realizing that we weren't there to pick up any of the workers but to actually eat, they all sighed, rolled their eyes, and one gentleman even threw his apron on the counter all while staring at us in the car. My boyfriend and I were confused so we looked for an 'hours of operation' sign, we then discovered that closing time was actually ten. After looking at the workers and putting our hands up to signal we're sorry we buckled back up and left. We understand that no one wants someone to walk in 5 minutes before close and prolong their night but we feel as if the manner that the workers conveyed these feelings were very rude. This experience has resulted in us not wanting to eat at...
