China City — Restaurant in Kentwood

Ordered pickup online through doordash website off of google maps (not through the actual doordash app). When we got there, i sent my friend in to pick it up. They were asking to see a doordash receipt, which my friend didn't understand at the time because the woman was not speaking english and had a heavy accent. The woman got frustrated and started yelling at him until he came back out to the car. I went in, confused why they were yelling and didn't give him our order. I tried to go in and explain that i just wanted to pick up my already paid for order, the woman was clearly frustrated and started talking quite loud trying to get her point across and a man came over, who spoke enough english to help me understand what the problem was. Since i ordered through google maps and not the actual app, it took me a long time to get things the actual doordash receipt pulled up on my phone, it didnt help that i had poor cellphone reception... i tried offering to show my ID and verify my phone number, i offered to show the text confirmation doordash sent me, proving that my name and info matched the order. They refused, they only wanted to see the doordash receipt. I have NEVER before been asked to verify anything more than my phone number when i go to pick up an order anywhere else. Eventually, i was able to download the app, and they gave me my order. They didn't even apologize for how they treated not only me, but my friend as well. Got back home, and the food was cold and subpar. The entire "experience" we had completely ruined what was supposed to be a nice...

I’m trying to figure out how this restaurant has such a high rating.

I ordered take out once on April 17 at 12:30 pm. I ordered sweet and sour chicken without even looking at the menu. I was charged $13.35.

I glanced though the paper menu while waiting which says the lunch price sweet is sour chicken is $9.99. It also says I can have fried rice or white rice and the meal is served with an egg roll or 2 crab Rangoon. I wasn’t given any of these options at the time of ordering.

When I got home and unpacked my lunch I was given white rice. Neither crab Rangoon nor an egg roll were included. On top of them charging me more than the advertised price, advertised items were omitted from my order. Perhaps people only get the extras if they dine in? If thats the case they should be articulated.

The food was disgusting. The chicken was dry. The sauce tasted weird and was packed in a carton instead of plastic container with a proper kid. The rice was lumped together. I ate a few pieces and threw it away. This was some of the worse Chinese food I’ve ever had....

I order take out from here a lot. It's my favorite Chinese place in town. First Wok is too $$ and upcharge every little thing and if they make a mistake, they don't own it. This place though? I can special order any dish because I can't eat carrots or root veggies (allergic) and they get my order right every time. The one time they didn't they remade it the next day for me. The prices are beyond reasonable and the meat is not like the kind you get that's cheap or chewy from other Chinese restaurants I've tried. The dishes I've had are the crab rangoon, beef, shrimp and chicken with Chinese vegetable, moo goo Gai pan and their Sizzling Rice soup which I'm addicted to. They have a bakery, too, from which my daughter loved to try items that taste very different from typical American stuff and are made fresh daily and are just plain good. I highly recommend...
