Brewdawgz Grille & Ale — Restaurant in Kerrville

We left a popular bar/restaurant that had a perfect setting and unique building, the type you'd expect for a Hill Country town. But we left because we felt like we were intruding and the staff seemed as if they didn't want to be there. So we decided to come to Brew Dawgz. We were a bit skeptical at first because of the name and it looked like a typical shopping center type place. Well whatever it lacks in aesthetics and location it makes up for in a surprising good mix of domestic and local beers. Extremely friendly staff that were welcoming but not overbearing. The food. I would say it's a step above your average bar food but they do not shy away from stacking it on your plate. Very generous. We had the nachos and jalapeños with pulled pork. It was legit. Fried pickles were on point. It's hard to recommend these type of places because coming to a small town like Kerrville you want something unique and personal (which it is, in a different kind of way) but sometimes you have to make exceptions. Brewdawgz Grille & Ale is a culinary secret in Kerrville. It’s an excellent restaurant parading as a sports bar. This is legit food that the chef obviously has put a lot of thought into. I can speak to the dishes I have ordered on my several visits. Fish & Chips are excellent. Crisp cornmeal coating, perfectly cooked. Onion rings to write home to mom about. The Prime Rib dinner is the best in town and you can also get a Prime Rib or Ribeye sandwich if you prefer. They have a choice of interesting Hebrew National hotdog styles; my favorite being the New York dog. Today, I ordered a house salad side. I was surprised to find a hand cut and crafted salad. No obvious bagged grocery store salad here. Even had big pieces of sliced fresh mushrooms in the side salad. The table service has become excellent. Friendly, nurturing, and prompt. Stopped in on the way home for a quick bite. Left an hour and a half later underwhelmed. Took ten minutes to get our drink orders in, and another twenty to get the food order. 25-30 minutes to get a burger, chicken tenders, and a chili dawg. Food was ok. +Edited to reflect the owner's response. We DID have the burger, as I noted. It didn't take 30 minutes to get our order from when we got there It was five-ten minutes before anyone took our drink order. Another twenty before they took our food order, and then another thirty to get the food.
