During a recent work trip that took me far from the bustling streets of downtown Chicago, I stumbled upon a remarkable culinary gem in the quaint town of Kewanee. Tres Cafe, a seemingly modest establishment from the outside, turned out to be a treasure trove of gastronomic delights that deserves every bit of acclaim.
From the moment my group of five entered, we were swept up in the warmth and charm of the place. The owner, an exceptionally hospitable individual, greeted us personally with a smile that spoke volumes about his passion for food and people. It was evident that she poured her heart into the café, ensuring that every guest felt like part of the Tres Cafe family.
The ambiance struck a perfect balance between elegance and comfort, with pristine cleanliness that shone from corner to corner and a decor that was very inviting. Large windows let in streams of natural light, making the already airy space feel even more open and welcoming.
Now, let’s talk about the food—each dish was a revelation! It was clear that the kitchen prioritized freshness, with every ingredient tasting as if it had been sourced that morning.
In conclusion, Tres Cafe is not just a restaurant; it's an experience—one that transforms a simple meal into a memorable event. Whether you’re a local or just passing through Kewanee, make it a point to visit this splendid café. You'll be talking about the delightful food, the pristine environment, and the top-notch service long after you've returned home. For those of us who travel frequently, finding a place like Tres Cafe is a reminder of why venturing off the beaten path can be...

FOOD :was great no complaints on the taste, the portions. Great job cooks!
SERVICE: would give zero stars the ghettoness of the waitstaff was just that. Dropped off our water and we said thank you and the staff said YEAH.....what is that type of comment. Our waitress came out was not trained or has never waitressed has ZERO people skills. Never came back to give us more water, dropped our ticket and said, " here you go". No thank you, no would you like anything else? NOPE ZERO people skills just hey garbage here's your ticket feeling. I mentioned to the manager in front of the waitress how horrible the service was and they just smiled. That was weird and setting the expectations of why you have such awful service. Our food was wrong so absolutely we needed it fixed I do not eat eggs that run all over they literally make me sick wanted scrambled what I ordered the server handled that situation so poorly. I am more forgiving with service having waitressed for many years. I know great service and horrible service it was so bad. They tried to offer a discount..... I'm not here for a discount I will pay for a good meal and we tip very well as I was a waitress all through high school and college. The service was just so bad. I didn't expect 5 star service but I also didn't expect ghetto service with slang and no people skills.
ATMOSPHERE: was nice and clean very well done.
Thank God the food was really good and the atmosphere was good because the service...
Read moreIf you're like me, finding a good spot to eat that doesn't break the bank is key. In Kewanee, there are exactly two spots where I’d bother to spend my budget, and Tres Cafe tops that short list.
First off, the vibe here is just right. It’s clean and cool, with a laid-back atmosphere that’s perfect for hanging out with friends or unwinding after a long study session. The decor is simple yet trendy, making it a prime spot for those Insta-worthy meal snaps.
Now, let’s talk about the food, specifically the fried chicken, because it’s out of this world! It’s perfectly crispy on the outside, while inside, it’s the kind of juicy that makes you wonder how you ever put up with those fast-food joints. And the biscuits? They're fluffy and perfect for scooping up any leftover gravy — a total game changer.
When I first visited, the service was a bit off; our waitress seemed new and was pretty unsure about the menu. But before we could get frustrated, the owner swooped in like a superhero. He took over our table, shared some cool insights about the menu, and made sure we are good. His personal touch turned what could have been a bummer into a highlight of our visit.
Tres Cafe isn’t just one of my favorite eateries in Kewanee, it’s the place I’d take anyone who’s visiting to show off what our town has to offer. Good prices, killer chicken, and an owner who cares? Check,...
