We loved this restaurant when it was a buffet before the pandemic and always stopped to order take out from their menu, even now. The takeout is still delicious and the route I recommend going! However the buffet experience post pandemic is another story..
My sister and I went to the buffet for the first time in 3 years. I noticed they hardly ever have buffet customers anymore and I see why now. So first, they are late. They are supposed to open at 11a. It was 3:28p and they were just arriving as we were about to give up on them and try Jin's cuisine. They told us it would be 30 mins before they started putting out food, so we shopped the stores for a little bit. NEW POLICY: They have a new buffet policy that if you waste food at the buffet, you will be charged extra. BEWARE IF YOU HAVE KIDS OR DONT LIKE SOMETHING. My brother in law could not eat the dumplings as the pork had a slight smell and tasted a little left out too long and my sister was charged $2 for "wasting" a chicken leg that was hard to bite into on top of the $10.95 per person buffet price (we had 5 people). The waitress said "Meat is expensive," although my sister tried to explain that particular leg was not great and that she did eat the other one she had. Fortunately, the lo mein, chicken and broccoli, sweet and sour chicken, biscuit with sugar, cheese wontons, and chicken on a stick that I personally had was all fine. However, due to their policy, we will not be back for the buffet as I have children (this was my rare occasion out without the kids) and a buffet is about trying things as well as filling your stomach and sometimes not everything is good. 🤷 Their policy doesnt allow for children to eat there or for you to try something new. While the waitress is right and meat is expensive, they are also treating the buffet like your mom's kitchen (aka: "clean your plate!") rather than a buffet. And like my sister and brother in law, what if the food is just not made correctly? They clearly don't care, which is sad as like I said, we used to love the buffet and I've had to change my...
Read moreI liked it before I worked there, then after I seen the kitchens conditions I was grossed out. They hadn't cleaned the hood vents for a long time before I started working there, they paid me 200$ to clean them. It took about 4 days scraping the 4 inches of gunk out of it, soaking them in degreaser and wiping them down. They put out lunch food on the buffet at 11am and don't change it out until 4pm unless something is empty, then they'll only refill what was empty. Their steam tables don't keep the food hot at all, warm at best. They have no heat lamps over the food, nor do they ever check food temps (even when they're told the food is cold) They definitely need a visit by the health department without a heads up that they're coming. Prepped food is left out in room Temps in buckets with no lids on them. Roaches everywhere in kitchen also. The dishwasher isn't a high temp one and never has any chemicals that it should have in it and the person that does the dishes don't care if they're clean or not. In summary, I wouldn't recommend anyone eating there because you're at high risk of getting sick, honestly. I've worked in the restaurant industry for many years and I know what the health requirements are, and I've tried telling them that they're doing things wrong, to no avail. No credit/ debit cards accepted, only cash or check.. The only good thing about the place is Christine.. her aunt owns the place.. every few years they pass the place to another relative.. I kept my mouth shut while I worked there because I needed the job, but I can't keep...
Read moreLong Spring (formerly King City) has been a Keyser staple for 20+ years. It is the place to go, if you don't want to cook, or just looking for some variety, want to celebrate with family or friends. Basic, well prepared, no frills, good Chinese food. Do not expect to find exotic or unusual menu offerings. A buffet luncheon and dinner is offered for those that enjoy variety and 'all you can eat', including deserts. They also offer carry-out if you prefer a meal on the go, don't forget to ask for chop sticks. Pleasant and clean surroundings, casual dining. Friendly service, fairly priced, usual menu variety. If you prefer, extra spicy entree, they will make if you ask. Not on the menu, I enjoy the extra spicy Curry Chicken / with mixed vegetables, that they will make special if asked. Be warned: the restaurant does not take credit cards, but there are ATM machines at nearby banks. Thus I have removed one star. If you are traveling through Keyser or vacationing the Potomac Highlands, engaged in white water paddling, hunting, fishing, hiking the forested trails, or alpine / cross country skiing , consider this restaurant. Service is fast, food quality is great and fairly priced. Just a small town, clean restaurant. Pleasant owners working hard to make your meal enjoyable and...
