The setting is amazing, next to the pool, the hotel is fantastic; but, the food and service were not good, caveat, we went to the buffet. $45 for adults and $16 for 12 and under. First off when they seated us the neglected to give us silverware. After 15 min of waiting for our server to come back I went and found some. The catsup on the buffet table was empty so again after about 10 min of waiting I again went hunting for catsup since our waiter never showed up. . As for the buffet. Nowhere as spectacular as everyone said. They had 1 chicken, 1 flank steak, and a whole roast pig which was mostly gone by the time we got seated. They did have a seafood bar with oysters, shrimp, and marinated shellfish. Kids bar was Mac n cheese, chicken fingers and I think hot dogs. Desserts were cookies, cup cakes, chocolate mousse and snow cones. As for all the mention of time... We we had a reservation for 745, and we're seated about 750. In general they stopped servicing the buffet about 810. Not refilling the food or stocking the plates. We had to get plates from the kids buffet table to go through the main buffet line. Then about 830 they started breaking down the buffet line. Back to service, we were running out of room on the table because it was filling up with dirty plates. Someone finally came and got the plates only because they were trying to close up. For the venue and the price I expected so much more. I would rank Golden corral much higher than this both for food and service. Skip this place and go to the Cherry wood bbq, the brisket there...
Read moreLoggerhead Grill used to be a fantastic place to go, really great views and good food varieties. However, coming here in peak beach season June 2021 they did a terrible remodel of their menu. There’s 3 options now for lunch, and all at the same price. The turkey sandwich is worse than a grocery store sandwich; basic bread with 3 slices of turkey and a bland tomato. It’s night and day from their previous menu of fish tacos, which were fantastic. The poke bowl was equally bad, with one scoop of rice and a few pieces of salmon with a ton of black sesame seeds and 3 slices of avocado.
Each item I mentioned cost $18, which was perfectly fine for their old menus.
End result; still great views, terrible menu and way overpriced for the new options.
They need to change the menu back to what it was; it was my family’s favorite place to go in Kiawah, but I wouldn’t recommend anyone go until they change their menu back to...
Read moreFor the last few years, my wife and I would regularly go over to the loggerhead over memorial day weekend to grab a drink and/or lunch and use the pool. It appears this has always been against policy, as the pool is meant to be exclusive to overnight hotel guests, and we have always stayed in the villas.
The food and drinks make for lovely poolside dining despite being horrendously overpriced, even by Kiawah Island standards. But this year they appear to have boosted their policy enforcement, and we were told we would not be able to enjoy the pool with the drinks/meal.
While it is an understandable policy, it means we can no longer partake in our annual tradition. They really should reconsider this policy-- if you are paying to use any hotel services, you should be...
